This Black History Month we will be revolving discussion and education around the most influential, revolutionary party, The Black Panther Party. The BPP’s free food programs not only successfully fed thousands of people in their community, they also provided political education to empower Black people to fight towards liberation.

On Sunday at 1pm, we will talk about the impact of BPP’s work and how we can continue their legacy today. In addition to assembling critical aid packages for our unhoused neighbors, we will be hosting a letter writing campaign to political prisoner, Shaka A. Shakur. Shaka has been wrongfully imprisoned on a trumped up charge since 2002. We have been fighting for his release for 24 years. Come out to write a letter to him, assemble aid packages, and hear from organizers and community members on the importance of solidarity through direct aid.

As always, the work that we do is not possible without the help of other working class people. If you interested in donating your time, money, or resources click the link in our bio!

Imagine being outside right now without gloves or a hat or enough layers to keep you warm. That is what life is like for a lot of our unhoused neighbors.

Hope Packages: Struggle, Unity, Solidarity is an independent project of the Indianapolis Liberation Center that provides resources for people experiencing homelessness. They have free winter survival kits that include items such as hats, gloves and hand warmers.

These kits don’t just magically come together; they need help from people like you.

You can help put together winter survival kits from 6:30-8 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 11, at Indianapolis Liberation Center, 1619 Prospect St.

If you can’t make it Thursday, you can also volunteer to give out the kits to people from 1-2:30 p.m, Sunday, Dec. 14 at Richard G. Lugar Plaza, 200 E. Washington St.

Bring a friend. The more people helping, the merrier.
