☀️Devington Community Hosts Free Wellness Block Party for All Ages☀️

The Devington Redevelopment Task Force, in partnership with United Northeast Community Development Corporation (UNEC), Zion Hope Church, and over 30 local organizations, invites residents of Northeast Indy and surrounding neighborhoods to the Devington Community Wellness Block Party on Saturday, July 12, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Zion Hope Church parking lot, 5950 E. 46th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46226.

This vibrant community celebration is designed to promote health, wellness, and unity across the Devington area and beyond. Admission is free! There will be fantastic giveaways adding an extra layer of fun and excitement throughout the event. Visitors are encouraged to park at Devington Plaza and walk over.

Event highlights include:

Live entertainment and performances

Food trucks and game trucks

Fire truck display and show-and-tell

Goat therapy

Self-defense and fitness demonstrations

Education enrichment activities

Financial empowerment resources

Mental health support services

Small business vendor marketplace

Free health resources and screening appointments

The block party is made possible by a diverse group of community partners including Horizon Bank, Ivy Tech Community College, Indy Fresh Market, Eskenazi Health, Citizens Energy Group, Humana, AARP Indiana, Indianapolis Neighborhood Resource Center, and many others who share a commitment to building a healthier and stronger Devington.

Back by popular demand and funded by Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust, in partnership with Friends of White River, two Stream Steward workshops are planned for Saturday November 2nd at Millersville along Fall Creek and Saturday November 9th at Oliver’s Woods along White River. Wow! Millersville’s first Fall Festival was a hit! We are so appreciative to the volunteers, supporters, and vendors who helped make our community celebration a huge success. We are especially grateful to our fearless Fall Fest leader, Sheila Roumpf for her tireless dedication and extraordinary vision.

Ratty no more.
Six big, scraggly planting beds in parking areas along the Fall Creek Parkway and Trail, are once again something we can all be proud of. Fantastic volunteers and donors just replaced struggling, missing, dead or dying shrubs with more than 200 native grass plants - making Millersville more beautiful!

Kudos to great people who see something that needs fixing and go make it happen. This time, with support from the Indianapolis Department of Public Works Office of Land Stewardship, it was neighbors Matt Benson (project leader); Mollie Benson, Geoff and Melinda Hall, Christine Pitzer, Joe Scheidler, Brad Schrader (hard laborers :-D); Cac Diehr, Melinda Hall, Loyd McElveen, Frank Myers, Christine Pitzer, Letti Scheidler and Sue Thomson (treats and drinks).

And these superheroes who made it possible: The Indianapolis Neighborhood Resource Center INRC - Indianapolis Neighborhood Resource Center for funding; David Gorden, landscape architect for design, plant selection and placement and Mark M. Holeman, Inc. for landscaping services and mulch; and 13 cadets plus two staff members from the Hoosier Youth Challenge Academy Hoosier Youth Challenge Academy HYCA for planting and mulching.
