Elkhart County, Indiana (September 6, 2026) - Two people are now dead after a vehicle hit a motorcycle in Elkhart County late Saturday night. Police were first called to the intersection of State Road 13 and County Road 148 just after 9:00 PM.

Investigators with the Elkhart County Sheriff's Office reported that a 2014 Nissan Rogue was traveling south on State Road 13 behind a 1963 Triumph T6R motorcycle. Investigators stated the motorcyclist had either slowed or stopped in traffic while they were preparing to turn west onto County Road 148 when the motorist struck them from behind.

The impact sent the motorcycle off the west side of the roadway and into a field, while the vehicle left the roadway and came to a stop in the field as well. The motorcyclist, Lowell Penner of Ligonier, and his passenger, Leah Lichtenberger also of Ligonier, suffered fatal injuries.

The driver of the Nissan was not injured and was taken to Goshen Hospital for a blood draw as part of the investigation. Reports stated the roadway was dry and weather conditions were clear at the time of the crash. No citations or charges have been announced as of this write up.

Indianapolis, Indiana (September 5, 2026) - A motorcyclist was killed Saturday night in a crash on the south side of Indianapolis.

IMPD officers were called to the intersection of East Hanna Avenue and South Dearborn Street on reports of a crash. Upon arrival, officers found the unresponsive motorcyclist in a yard on the northeast corner of the intersection.

Witnesses told IMPD investigators the motorcycle was traveling behind a silver truck and a black SUV when the rider “𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙤𝙛 𝙖 𝙨𝙪𝙙𝙙𝙚𝙣, 𝙙𝙧𝙤𝙥𝙥𝙚𝙙 𝙞𝙩 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙤 𝙜𝙚𝙖𝙧” and crossed the double yellow line to pass both vehicles.

The motorcyclist was taken to a nearby hospital in "𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮 𝙘𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡"condition where he later died. The motorcyclist was reportedly not wearing a helmet.

Madison County, Indiana (September 5, 2026) - A motorcyclist from Anderson, Indiana is dead after a crashing into a SUV that turned in front of him. According to the Madison County Sheriff, it happened around 10:30 p.m. on September 4, 2026 in the 4500 block of West State Road 128, which is just east of Frankton.

A preliminary investigation indicates a person driving an SUV was going West and was attempting to turn into a driveway when it collided with a eastbound motorcycle, the motorcyclist was then ejected. He was transported to an Indianapolis hospital where he died from his injuries.

Greene County, Indiana (September 2, 2026) - A man from Pennsylvania was airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital after crashing his motorcycle in Greene County, Indiana. The crash happened around 9:00 p.m. Monday on U.S. 231.

The motorcyclist, riding a 2009 Harley-Davidson motorcycle was heading southbound on 231 when he failed to negotiate a sharp curve. The motorcycle then went off the road, landing in a wooded area.

Washington County, Indiana (August 31, 2026) - On August 29, 2026, at approximately 5:00 pm, members of emergency services were dispatched to the area of 8459 E. Blue River Road in reference to a motorcycle crash.

Evidence and statements gathered at the scene indicate that Jason Smith, age 45 of Corydon, Indiana was traveling eastbound on Blue River Road, when a deer jumped out of the ditch. Smith stated he applied his brakes to avoid the deer, but the deer struck the front of the motorcycle.

Smith said he tried to keep the motorcycle from flipping over but was unable to. Smith said the motorcycle flipped over and he and his passenger were ejected. The passenger was identified as Brooke McKinley, age 41 of Sellersburg, Indiana.

Despite life saving measures, McKinley was pronounced deceased on scene by the Washington County Ambulance Service. Smith was transported to St. Vincent Hospital of Salem, Indiana for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Neither the driver nor the passenger were wearing helmets.

On this day, Indian Larry died..

On this day, August 30, 2004, Larry Desmedt, known as Indian Larry, died at 3:45 a.m. in Charlotte, North Carolina of injuries he suffered doing a motorcycle stunt. He was 55.

Desmedt had gone to Charlotte for the shooting of an episode of "Biker Build-Off," in which he has successfully competed with other riders of custom made motorcycles.

Desmedt fell off his motorcycle while performing before a crowd of around 8,000 people at the Cabarrus Arena and Events Center as part of the Liquid Steel Classic and Custom Bike Series.

Desmedt was performing his most famous stunt, standing on the seat of the moving motorcycle, when the bike started to wobble, and he lost control.

Paramedics were standing by and aided Desmedt until he could be airlifted to the Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. Because his full name wasn’t immediately available, hospital officials couldn’t discuss his condition, citing federal privacy laws.

The last words reportedly that Desmedt uttered were to his wife Bambi, saying, "Sweetie, sweetie." Bambi, known as the "Mermaid of Coney Island" his wife since June 3, 2000 was also at the event. Desmedt was cremated per his request, the location of his ashes are currently unknown to the general public.

A memorial service was held at his shop, Indian Larry Enterprises in Brooklyn, New York from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm on September 19. The memorial service was packed with thousands of bikers from across the country, including Billy Lane, several HAMC members and the Rumblers car club.

The crowd was so large that parking extended to several blocks, and local police directed traffic. The entertainment included Six Gun Republic, an ice sculpture was created in a likeness of Desmedt dressed in full Native American headdress.

Knox County, Indiana (August 29, 2026) - At approximately 1:50 p.m., deputies of the Knox County, IN Sheriff’s Office, along with emergency personnel were dispatched to the area of South School House Road for an accident involving a motorcycle.

Preliminary investigation revealed the motorcyclist was northbound on South School House Road when he lost control in a curve and was thrown from his motorcycle. He was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital with multiple internal injuries and was pronounced deceased.

Deputies stated that the motorcyclist, Paul Emmons, 60, of Knox County, Indiana was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
