Project Lead the Way at CY

Project Lead the Way at CY Throughout PLTW, students become critical thinkers and problem solvers. They engage in learning that helps them make sense of the world around them.

They apply STEM knowledge, skills, and habits of mind, learning that it’s okay to take risks and make mistakes. www.my.pltw.org

Mrs. Clouse’s 1st-grade class is back in PLTW for a fun 4-day round of STEM learning!
Students took on the challenge of designing and building their own marble mazes using LEGO pieces. They worked to create pathways that would guide their marble from start to finish, testing and improving their designs along the way. This activity encouraged problem-solving, creativity, and perseverance as students made adjustments to get their mazes just right!

Check out the pictures to see their awesome creations in action—we have some very creative thinkers at work!

🚀 Historic moment happening RIGHT NOW! The NASA Artemis II crew is flying around the Moon — and they’ve just broken the record for the farthest distance humans have ever traveled from Earth, farther even than Apollo 13! They’re approaching a six‑hour flyby of the Moon’s far side — terrain no human has ever seen with their own eyes before. Scientists and space fans across the world are watching live coverage of this once‑in‑a‑generation event as they capture incredible views and pave the way for future lunar landings. 🌕✨

🔴 Tune in now and be part of history unfolding!

Anyone else have a case of the Moondays? 🌕

Today our Artemis II astronauts fly around the Moon! Tune in, starting at 1 p.m. EDT (1700 UTC) as they view parts of the Moon never seen by human eyes.

Our 4th graders had an amazing time visiting Endress+Hauser, exploring seven hands-on STEM stations! From driving Spheros and coding robots, to building circuits, designing 3D models, and even creating their own storm, students got to experience science and technology in action.

Many loved the experience and said they hope to either work at Endress+Hauser or do something similar in the future—what an inspiring day! Thank you to Endress+Hauser for making this unforgettable learning experience possible. STEM is so important, and moments like these make it come alive!

What an incredible day for our Clinton Young Lion Bots Robotics Team at our final competition of the season yesterday! 🤖🦁

These students have worked so hard all year — building, rebuilding, coding, problem-solving, and showing true teamwork and sportsmanship every step of the way. Watching their growth from our first practice to our last competition has been amazing!

They represented CY with determination, resilience, and pride. No matter the scores, we are SO proud of their commitment, positive attitudes, and the way they supported one another.

Way to go, Lion Bots! 🤖

Mrs. Rutherford’s class just kicked off their Earth science unit with a water filtration design challenge.💧🌍
One group sketched individual ideas around the edges and put their shared plan in the center. 👏🧠 Love seeing teamwork and thoughtful problem-solving in action.

The Lion Bots showed up strong at today’s competition! Out of 43 teams, Team A ranked 18th and Team B ranked 25th—an impressive accomplishment, especially after both teams chose to redesign their robots following the last competition. We’re excited to lock in the design and keep practicing over the next few weeks as we gear up for the next competition on the 21st. So proud of their teamwork, perseverance, and growth! 🦁🤖

Congratulations to the Lion Bots on their first competition of the season at New Palestine! We are so proud of the hard work and determination shown by both teams.

✨ Team A placed 16th out of 44 teams and qualified for finals — an awesome accomplishment!
✨ Team B placed 29th out of 44 teams, gaining valuable experience and continuing to grow as a team.

It’s been a tough start to the season, but these students have persevered, stayed positive, and kept pushing forward. They’ve been working hard to improve their robot, especially experimenting with pneumatics. While it’s not quite working the way they want yet, they didn’t let that stop them from competing with confidence and grit.
