The first Wildergarden Way Award: Lynn Bocknik Jenkins provided early support to Wildergarden. She attended the administrative hearing in the early 2000’s where I successfully pushed back against w**d ordinances trying to stop our progress. I am grateful to her.
Lynn has long been an active leader within green sustainability circles in the greater Indianapolis area. Many people agree she deserves a shoutout.
Lynn formerly served as the President of the Indiana Organic Growers Association. She owned and published Indiana Living Green Magazine and Website. (2007-2010). She is an outspoken and knowledgeable advocate for several local environmental causes. Lynn received the “Theodore Roosevelt Award” from the Indiana Wildlife Federation for personal dedication, and also the “Environmentalist of the Year” in 2011 from the Hoosier Environmental Council.
Lynn has been an inspiration and support to me, for which I am grateful. Lynn is a Facebook Follower and I am saluting her with this post on our Wildergarden page.

This is a brief event in the Spring I hope everyone will see!

This tiny Wild black cherry tree will, I hope, grow to maturity and give our birds a feast of cherries and caterpillars.

I love the spring green color with yellow tones on the young Red oak leaves. This sweet volunteer tree was growing in front of a stop sign, and so was cut back into a bush. Its leaves have spiky tips, in contrast to the rounded edges of White oak leaves. See the red stem where the new leaves are unfurling? Red oak is the most common volunteer oak tree at Wildergarden. It’s a signature tree which I am happy to have!

This beautiful bouquet of Paw paw flowers is a burgundy shade that no artist can match. I wonder why Nature chose this color. It delights me at the front of my house.

I decided to create a reel that celebrates Springtime. 😊

Bottlebrush grass looks healthy. I became enamored with prairie grasses during my time at a ranch in Oklahoma. I’m thrilled that there are similar woodland grasses like this one. They are shade tolerant. They add another level of plants in a forest.
