Youth Global Perspectives is looking for a Program Operations Coordinator to join our growing team!

This is a part-time independent contractor opportunity averaging approximately 20 hours per week, starting at $21/hour.

We’re looking for someone who is organized, dependable, flexible, self-directed, and passionate about supporting young people. This role will help coordinate our programs, educational trips, college tours, family engagement, fundraising activities, workshops, and more.

What I learned at the space center is that most of the artifacts are real from over 50 years ago. Examples include the spacesuits worn by Michael Collins who did two moonwalks on the moon. In addition, most of the astronauts trained in this facility. The space center had a lot of fun facts all around the artifacts for example one had facts of how astronauts eat and sleep in space. Another had artifacts about all the Apollo missions and portraits of all the astronauts who went to space. The space center was really educational and fun and I recommend everyone visit

For dinner, we went to a Mexican restaurant. Fortunately, one of the group members spoke fluent Spanish for the workers to understand our orders.

I think today was fun and eventful and I would love to come visit the space center again

Going to the water park was easily one of the best parts of the trip. The first thing I tried was the wave pool. It looked like it was going to be crazy, but honestly, the waves weren’t really waving like that. After that, we walked around, chilled, and enjoyed being there.

Later, I decided to go on one of the giant drop water slides. According to Dee Ross, I almost flew off the thing. I personally think that’s a little dramatic, but I’ll let everyone else decide. Either way, I survived and lived to tell the story.

We left the water park around 3:00 p.m. and headed back to the hotel to relax for a while. Once we got there, I somehow got pulled into a long debate with Marques, Braden, and DJ about who the greatest rappers of all time are. Nobody changed anybody’s mind, and somehow everyone still thought they won the argument.

Later that evening, we headed out to watch fireworks, although we arrived late. Afterwards, we went out to eat. By then, I was so tired that I kept falling asleep at the table waiting for our food. The second the food came out, though, I woke up real quick.

The restaurant also had games, so Braden, DJ, and I played a few rounds and somehow ended up tied. One of my favorite moments of the night was beating Dee Ross in co****le toss. That’s a win I’m definitely keeping on the scoreboard.

After dinner, we got back on the bus, caught some sleep during the ride, and finally made it back to the hotel. Between the water slides, debates, games, laughs, and food, it ended up being one of the funniest and most memorable days of the trip.

Over the past two weeks, we had the opportunity to visit several universities and learn more about college life. These visits gave us a better understanding of different campuses, academic programs, and the opportunities each school offers. It was a great experience because we were able to see what makes each university unique.

One of the universities we visited was LSU. While we were there, we explored the campus, learned about the different majors, and heard about student life and campus activities. We also visited Xavier University, where we learned about its history, academic programs, and the supportive environment it provides for students. Both visits helped us think more about our future education and career goals.

Overall, these past two weeks were educational and inspiring. Visiting different universities allowed us to compare schools and imagine what college might be like. The experience encouraged us to start thinking more seriously about our futures and the steps we can take to prepare for college and our careers.

Reflection from another YGP Scholar

Day 8 was another memorable day at YGP. I started my morning by waking up at the Embassy Hotel in Austin, Texas. After getting ready, everyone boarded the bus and traveled to the University of Texas at Austin. It was exciting to visit such a large campus and get a glimpse of what college life is like.

For lunch, we had Wendy’s. To be honest, it wasn’t that great, but it gave us enough energy for the rest of the day. After we finished eating, we spent some time walking around campus. We raced each other, talked, laughed, and just had a lot of fun together. It was one of the best parts of the day because everyone was enjoying themselves.

Later, we got back on the bus and headed to a barbecue restaurant for dinner. The food was amazing. I had brisket with mac and cheese and creamy corn, and it was definitely my favorite meal of the day. Everything tasted really good, and I left feeling full and satisfied.

Once we made it back to the Embassy Hotel, I took a shower, relaxed after a long day, and then went to bed. Overall, it was a fun day filled with new experiences, good friends, and a great dinner. Even with the bus delay, I really enjoyed my time at YGP and am looking forward to what tomorrow brings.

While in New Orleans, we enjoyed the bayou. We started our day with a nice walk on Bourbon Street, where we got to see performers, drummers, and bands. While walking, we stopped to try Cafe Beignet, and everyone got to experience a little gumbo and jambalaya, which I personally loved. To finish off the night, we got some beignets that were to die for.

Next, we began the swamp tour, where we got to experience how deep the bayou can really get while being surrounded by gators. Scary, huh? Wrong—we were all perfectly fine. We learned random facts while watching our guide taunt them with hotdogs.

The biggest challenge was the heat. From there, we headed on over to Studio BE, which is an art museum. I was so transfixed by the artistry. One piece that stood out to me was ‘Driving While Black’ lol, a student-designed game depicting a Black man driving a nice car being threatened by police even while complying. We wrapped up the evening with a ghost tour, learning more about the history of New Orleans while exploring the French Quarter.

We thence toured Xavier University, which I really liked because it wasn’t overly big and had partner schools you could attend. The best part was meeting a student that had just got accepted, which gave us some insight.

After lunch, we visited the Whitney Plantation, where walking the same grounds our ancestors were worked, beaten, and discouraged was something I’ll never forget. We also learned about the crops they brought over and how they still found ways to have fun. Like going towards lakes and dancing for hours.

Last but not least, we explored Southern University and LSU. I really liked Southern because of the pride our tour guide had and how resilient the campus felt, as we know, they come 2nd to none. While also being built on a plantation. LSU was a really pretty campus with a great admissions team—and they even had a tiger on campus.

At the end of the day, I loved my time in Louisiana and all the opportunities YGP has presented us with, and I’m so grateful to be one of their scholars.

Day 1 in Texas, we came downstairs to have breakfast and talk. Then we prepared to leave for Prairie View A&M. On the bus we filled out college information sheets to give us some background on the school before we got there. At Prairie View we learned a lot from our tour guide.

At TSU( Texas Southern University) we completed a tour and discussed the many amenities at TSU. One of the amenities that were mentioned, for example, were the off campus living options. The students are also able to go to many fun group activities and events to branch out with their peers and enjoy themselves during stressful school weeks. We then traveled back to the hotel and had dinner before a fun game night. We played mafia and I was the mafia ( probably the worst choice honestly ). I died within the first 20 minutes of the game.

Next we went to the international space station. It was super cool! We learned so many things about NASA and Astronauts. During the middle of our NASA day, we enjoyed pizza for lunch. One of the things I learned from this center, was that Russia made a special suit for the astronauts to keep them from stretching too far. In space, astronaut’s spines can stretch up to 3 inches causing them pain. We also got to see real cattle, learn about some of the plants grown in space, and see some of the space ships from the previous flights to space.

Day 3, The next morning we all went downstairs and sat for breakfast. Today we were going to see The University Of Texas at Austin. After finishing breakfast we loaded the bus and traveled 4 hours to the school. When we got there we ran into a student who was kind enough to do our tour so it wasn’t self guided. I appreciated it because I feel as if I learn more from a tour guide than a self guided tour. We then looked at some of the cool art from the art school and started our tour. The campus was HUGE. So many buildings spread out over so many places. The campus was pretty nice.

After the college tour, we took some pictures then headed inside for lunch. After lunch we walked around for a bit enjoying the nice weather. Then we went to the school spirit shop where we had a great time interacting with each other and the staff( December and Makenzie got the security guard to teach them to say goodbye in different languages) they also got the ring the bell. We then went to target and sat just to do some last minute shopping and enjoy the Ac.
The next and final day of our trip we woke up at 10am to leave for the water park. I chose to sleep in so I had a quick breakfast and grabbed a muffin.

We then traveled to the water park. I had so much fun !! I got to go on the waterslides , enjoy the wave pool , and go through the “lazy river”. I say “lazy” because it was anything but lazy. Jaiah, princess , Mackenzie , Kimora , December, and I all played in the lazy river. We ran through the lazy river and swam while chasing each other. It was pretty fun. I thought the funniest part of the waterpark was Princess pushing me underwater twice.

After the water park we went to In n Out burger. It was so good, I was excited to eat it because we don’t have any in Indianapolis. We then went back to our hotel and took naps before we got ready to see the fireworks it was so cool walking to see the fireworks because we all had glow sticks in the dark!! After the fire works we headed to dinner. We sat and talked a bit before we went outside to play games. We played foosball , shuffleboard and co****le while we waited for our foo.

After sitting and saying prayer we enjoyed more conversation while we finished our food. When we got back on the bus we headed back to the hotel and got ready for bed. One of my favorite things on this trip was conversation. Getting to talk to all of the other kids and adults. We learned so much about each other and shared so many laughs. I was scared at first because I’m not usually outgoing with people I don’t know but It was an easy adjustment this trip. Everyone was so nice and fun. We got to crack jokes and share spaces with each other as family rather than strangers like we were before this trip.

This ain’t texasss wooo, nah actually we are in Texas; Dallas Texas. We actually didn’t get here till bout 3-4am this morning 7/4/2026

Hello everyone reading this! Today we went to Hawaiian Waters Waterpark. We explored the water slides and got in the wave pool. I really liked this one water slide that required you to step inside, cross your arms and legs.

When the ride was ready, it dropped you into the water slide fast and it felt like you died then came back to life. I loved the lazy river and talking to new people there. But the concrete was HOTTTTT. I’m talking about 3rd degree burns on yo feet. lol. Overall, I really loved the water park 10/10 definitely recommend but after the water park we went to In-N-Out Burger. The food was good but I didn’t finish it. I got a double burger with fries and pink lemonade. I would rate the burger 7/10 and the pink lemonade 6/10.

That evening, we headed to the fireworks show. It was a lot of trees in the way and we had to walk down a dark walkway to watch the fireworks. I honestly still had a good time watching the fireworks. After that we went to this restaurant called Rock and Brews. We had different kinds of food and games to play while you wait for your food. Some of the options were football, co****le and one game that you had to slide the objects and get points for.

Afterwards, we went back to the hotel and chilled for the rest of the day. That concludes the journal for today thank you everybody that read to the end , God bless.

🚍Daily reflection of our Texas & Louisiana College and Culture Tour from:

I had my very first experience with Hawaiian Water park in Dallas Texas. Once the rules were established, we went off into our own little group: me, Kennedy, and Kaiden.

The first thing we did was head to the lazy river which was a very chill experience. The second ride we got on was called “The Drop” and it was really scary. I was literally scared for my life! Lol. Since I can't swim, I was naturally terrified, but I made it! My goal was to face my fear all day and try most of the water rides. And I did! I'm so proud of myself. The Drop might’ve been the scariest, but it was definitely my favorite.

After we left the water park, we went to
“In and Out Burger”, I’m not usually a big fan of burgers, but their burgers were so delicious! It was a bummer to find out we don’t even have them in Indianapolis. After that, we watched fireworks for 5 minutes, and went to dinner at this Rock and Roll Restaurant. Their fries were very delicious, too.

Overall I had a really good day and would love to experience it all again someday!

This day was different from what I expected. Earlier, I had learned that the itinerary for Day 6 had changed. Instead of leaving Houston, we would be staying an extra day and visiting a space museum. I was optimistic about the change because I have always been interested in space exploration.

When we arrived, I was hoping to see a full exhibit about Laika, the first dog to orbit Earth. Although there was not much information about her, I still got to see many fascinating things throughout the museum. For example, Mariah told me that astronauts eat a lot of tortillas in space because regular bread creates crumbs that can float around and damage equipment. I also learned that astronauts can grow plants using small fabric “pillows” and preserve food and supplies for long periods aboard the space station.

One fact that surprised me the most was that the International Space Station has not been completely empty since November 2000. That means it has remained an active hub for nearly 25 years. We also had the opportunity to walk through several replicas of historic spacecraft and space shuttles. Even though I did not understand what all of the machinery did, it was still fascinating to see it up close.

Before exploring the exhibits, we attended an interactive show that simulated astronaut training. The presenters were very engaging, and I learned that space is actually easier to explore than the deep ocean because the ocean’s pressure creates greater challenges for exploration.

After our visit, we returned to the Embassy Suites Hotel, where we had been staying during our time in Houston. Later, we had dinner at La Hacienda, a Mexican restaurant, before heading back to the hotel. There, we had the opportunity to meet a longtime friend of Ms. Claudia’s who worked in marketing. She shared advice about building a career in marketing and encouraged us to pursue paths that align with our interests and strengths.

Despite the unexpected schedule change, the day turned out to be both fun and productive. I learned a lot, experienced new things, and gained insight into possible future careers. By the end of the day, it had become one of my favorite experiences of the entire trip.
