On Thursday, September 22nd at 11:30AM EST Karuna Precision Wellness Center will be co-hosting the third annual virtual Cancer Wellness Symposium with LifeOmic.
For this year's symposium we are excited to have Dr. Jonathan Stegall, M.D. presenting on “The Doctor-Patient Relationship: Why It’s Important, and How We Can Restore It.”
The relationship between doctor and patient was once considered sacred, and unfortunately, that therapeutic bond has been minimized in recent years due to a variety of factors. Today, many patients feel like they are just a case number or a list of diagnosis codes. Research tells us that a good relationship between doctor and patient not only improves communication and understanding, but actually influences treatment outcomes. In this lecture, Dr. Stegall will discuss the current research on the doctor-patient relationship, and provide advice for patients on how to strengthen that relationship with their doctors. Finally, Dr. Stegall will provide recommendations for how the doctor-patient relationship should fit into an integrative approach to cancer treatment.
Dr. Stegall, M.D. is the founder and medical director of The Center for Advanced Medicine in Alpharetta, Georgia. He practices integrative oncology. Dr. Stegall has a bachelor’s degree from Clemson University, as well as a master’s degree in physiology from Georgetown University. Prior to starting medical school, Dr. Stegall conducted research on the doctor-patient relationship at Harvard Medical School. After earning his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina, he completed his postgraduate training through the Yale University School of Medicine, with clinical training at Greenwich Hospital and Yale New Haven Hospital. During this time, he conducted rotations in integrative oncology and began developing his own unique approach to cancer treatment. Dr. Stegall went on to complete a fellowship in Integrative Oncology through the Metabolic Medical Institute, affiliated with the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Stegall is a bestselling author. His book, Cancer Secrets: An Integrative Oncologist Reveals How You Can Defeat Cancer Using the Best of Modern Medicine and Alternative Therapies, provides a must-have guide for cancer patients and their families. He is the host of the Cancer Secrets Podcast, which is an award-winning podcast with a worldwide audience. He is also the creator of Cancer Secrets University, a comprehensive online course for cancer patients and their families. Dr. Stegall is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) as well as the Society for Integrative Oncology (SIO).
