Mothers Advocating for Real Change and Unwavering Support - Marcus M.A.R.C.U.S. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit turning grief into action. The ringing phone shattered my moment of normalcy. The feeling of isolation was overwhelming.

exists to prevent youth violence, strengthen parental accountability, and support families impacted by homicide through advocacy, education, and community-based intervention. My name is Tina Sykes-Mosley, and I stand before you as the founder of Mothers Advocating for Real Change and Unwavering Support (M.A.R.C.U.S.) I share my story not only to honor my youngest son, Marcus Gerard Mosley, but als

o to shed light on the painful journey that so many of us endure after losing a child to violence. On that chilling Tuesday evening, September 29, 2020, I was watching the presidential debate, absorbed in the words of the candidates, when my life was irrevocably shattered. It was my daughter, her voice trembling as she delivered the unthinkable news: Marcus had been shot. I felt my heart drop; the air was suddenly too thick to breathe. In those agonizing moments, I clung to hope, desperate for a different outcome, but soon after, another call came from my oldest son. With trembling words, he confirmed my worst fears: Marcus was dead. In an instant, the world I knew—the laughter, the plans, the dreams—evaporated into a suffocating void. An enormous chasm opened in my chest, an unfathomable pain that felt too immense to endure. Marcus was just 28 years old, a son full of potential and life, taken from us far too soon by senseless violence. The autopsy report remains inconclusive, leaving unanswered questions about whether he was shot in the back or the chest. It’s a reminder of a tragic reality for many families, where the violent loss of a loved one leaves not only grief but a cloud of uncertainty and anger. I searched for others who understood this kind of loss, who could relate to the heartache of watching your child’s life taken away without reason. It was then that I realized the importance of creating a space for grieving mothers like me—a community where we can come together to share our sorrow, offer support, and advocate for change. And so, Mothers Advocating for Real Change and Unwavering Support (M.A.R.C.U.S.) was born, a refuge for those grappling with similar tragedies. Through this nonprofit, we aim to empower mothers who have lost children to violence, providing them with the resources, support, and understanding necessary to navigate their grief. Together, we honor the memories of our beloved children, like Marcus, and transform our pain into resilience. While my heart will forever bear the scar of losing Marcus, I find strength in the community we are building. I invite you to join us in this journey of healing, advocacy, and remembrance. Together, we can light a path toward hope and rebuild our lives, surrounded by those who truly understand our pain and our love for our lost children.

M.A.R.C.U.S. is still a long way from reaching the $25,000 needed to launch our summer program for teens ages 14–18.
Without these funds, there will be no teen program this summer.
That means fewer safe spaces, fewer prevention conversations, fewer mentorship opportunities, and fewer chances to reach young people before violence reaches them.
We often hear people say, “Somebody needs to do something about this violence.”
Today, we are asking you to become that SOMEBODY.
Your donation can help us give teens a safe place to learn, talk, grow, be challenged, be supported, and choose a different path.
Please donate today. Our teens need this program, and we cannot do it without community support.

... **These Are the Faces Behind the Statistics** These picture is not just a display. It is a field of stolen futures.

Every face you see represents a life that was taken, a family that was shattered, a seat that will always be empty, a voice that will never be heard again on this earth.

When someone pulls the trigger, the bullet does not stop with the person it hits.

It tears through mothers.
It tears through fathers.
It tears through children.
It tears through siblings, grandparents, friends, classrooms, neighborhoods, and generations.

That one act creates a ripple effect that never ends.

The person who was murdered is not the only victim. The family wakes up every day serving a life sentence of grief, trauma, unanswered questions, court dates, anniversaries, birthdays, holidays, and memories that now hurt more than they comfort.

These are the faces they killed.

These are the faces we will never see walk through the door again.
These are the voices we will never hear call our names again.
These are the birthdays we will never fully celebrate again.
These are the futures that were violently interrupted.

So when the courts talk about justice, we need them to understand the weight of what was taken.

Anything less than a **LIFE SENTENCE** for the murderers who stole these lives is unacceptable.

Because families do not get a reduced sentence.
Mothers do not get parole from grief.
Children do not get their parents back.
Parents do not get another hug.
Communities do not get to undo the damage.

One trigger pulled.

One life taken.

Countless lives destroyed.

This is the ripple effect of gun violence.

And this is why we will continue to speak their names, carry their faces, demand accountability, and fight until the world understands:

They were not just victims.

They were loved.
They mattered.
They belonged to somebody.
And they should still be here.
