Happy !

Today we honor the legacy of the last enslaved African Americans in Texas who were finally informed of their freedom, some two and a half years after President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation. It was those people, and the generations of Texans who came after them, who made the bold declaration to celebrate this day, marking a reality we know far too well in this country: freedom may be delayed, but it will never be denied.

Though our fight for freedom sadly continues, today we pause to celebrate and embrace the joy of our ancestors who believed in the possibilities of a more promising tomorrow. And in that joy, we remain anchored, steadfast in our pursuit of true freedom and justice for all.

🗳️ WE PROTECT. WE SERVE. WE ENGAGE.

Democracy works best when communities show up—not just to vote, but to help make the process possible.

Poll workers are the friendly faces who assist voters, answer questions, and help ensure elections run smoothly. They are trained, compensated, and play an essential role in strengthening our democratic process.

If you’re looking for a meaningful way to serve your community, we invite you to learn more about becoming a poll worker. Whether you’re a first-time volunteer or a longtime community advocate, your time and talents can make a difference.

📋 Interested? Join the interest list (https://tinyurl.com/UC-Poll-Worker-Interest) and explore how you can help support free, fair, and accessible elections.

Together, we can protect the process, empower voters, and strengthen our communities.

🗳️ Making every voice count!

We were proud to participate in Community Day, sponsored by Union Funeral & Cremation Service (thank you, Soror Daphne Williams!) and hosted by Harvest Ministries.

Throughout the event, we connected with residents from Anson, Union, and Mecklenburg Counties, as well as visitors from South Carolina, helping community members verify their voter registration status and prepare for upcoming elections.

✨ 3 new voters registered
✨ Numerous attendees confirmed their registration status
✨ One individual discovered they had been removed from the voter rolls and was able to successfully re-register

These moments remind us that civic engagement matters and that access to the ballot begins with ensuring every eligible voter is registered and ready to vote.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our table. Together, we continue to educate, empower, and engage our communities.

Happy Pride Month to our sorors, partners, and friends!

Delta Sigma Theta has always stood for love, inclusion, and respecting the full dignity of every person. While we remain anchored in that legacy, we also acknowledge the need to continue to evolve with intention by championing affirming policies, and forging a culture where every member is seen, valued, and protected.

This Pride Month, we honor and celebrate the beautiful diversity and strength of the LGBTQ+ community and reaffirm our commitment to being allies in the fight for a better future where the freedom to love and exist in one’s authentic identity is not contingent on the political climate. Especially when that freedom is being challenged, we choose to show up louder, love harder, and stand firmer in our commitment to justice for all.

📚✨ Hello, June! ✨📚

As we begin a new month, we’re continuing our Books for Babies collection benefiting newborns and families at Atrium West and Atrium Union. 💙👶🏽

There’s still time to help us place books into the hands of families and encourage a love for reading from the very beginning. Whether you purchase a book from our wish list or make a monetary donation, your support helps create meaningful moments of learning, bonding, and joy.

Our collection drive runs through June 30. Thank you to everyone who has already supported this initiative and helped us make an impact in the lives of local families. 📖✨
