Roar! It's always a great day to be a Lion! It's even greater when the Central Lions Club gets to support local youth, art programs and staff, sponsor awards, and promote Lions Club International Peace Poster- all in the same evening!
On May 28, 2026, the Central High School District Spring Art Show was held at Central High School, featuring over 200 entries from both Talmadge Middle School and Central High School. Central Lions brought information about the 2026-2027 Peace Poster Contest and presented five awards to students. Awards of gift certificates for supplies and classes were presented by River Gallery https://www.rivergalleryart.com/ and Spectrum Artworx https://spectrumartworx.com/ .
This was the third year for this event, and every year the entries increase in variety and creativity. Photographs shown here are in no particular order
Central Lions sends a ROAR of gratitude to Ms. Cooney and Mr. Avery of CHS and to Mr. Hoke of Talmadge Middle School for encouraging their students to participate.

Roar! It's a great day to be a Lion placing American Flags in our community! Bright and early this morning, Central Lions Club members met up to gather flags and take them around the Monmouth-Independence area to participating program members' yards (not all locations are photographed). Flags will be collected this evening, dried and cleaned and stored again. Next holiday: Flag Day June 14, the 250th Anniversary of the adoption of the American Flag.

Let your Central Lions Club help you show your patriotism by placing a 3'x5' American flag in your front yard on seven patriotic holidays! These flags are carefully stored after each use.
Householders designate the location for the flag to be placed.
All flags are property of the Central Lions Club, for use by program participants.
Remember - our motto is "We Serve". Tomorrow, flags will be placed in program participants yards starting at 7am and picked up at 5 pm.

Roar! It's a great day to be a Lion and to be of service to our community! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Do you live in Independence or Monmouth? Would you like to proudly display our nation's flag but don't have the flag, the time or the flagpole? Here's your opportunity to have a handsome 3'x5' American flag, mounted on a 10' pole, displayed in your front yard (curbside) during seven patriotic holidays throughout the year!
- For a modest subscription fee, your flag is installed in the early morning, on display all day, and then removed at sundown on the same day. Our flag displays are not permanent, and will not harm your lawn. Both the flag and the flagpole remain the property of the Central Lions Club.
