As we recognize Food Allergy Awareness Week, we’re proud to spotlight some of the incredible instructors who help bring the Allison Rose Foundation’s mission to life.
Throughout the week, we’ll introduce members of our instructor team and share why they are passionate about educating others on anaphylaxis, epinephrine and the importance of being prepared to respond in an emergency.
Their commitment helps make our communities safer, more informed and ready to act when every second matters.
Instructor Spotlight: Amber Addis
For Amber Addis, RN, teaching with the Allison Rose Foundation is both professional and personal.
Introduced to ARF through her friend Rachel Rexroad of LEARN CPR, Amber has spent the past two years helping educate others on how to recognize anaphylaxis and respond in an emergency.
As a nurse and mom, Amber understands the fear and vigilance that can come with managing food allergies. Her daughter, Charlotte, was diagnosed as an infant with FPIES, a rare food protein allergy that required strict dietary planning, careful label reading and an emergency action plan always close in mind.
“Teaching with the Allison Rose Foundation gives me the opportunity to educate and empower others to save lives,” Amber shared. “My family’s experience gave me a deep sense of empathy for those navigating food allergies every day.”
Amber also recognizes that ARF’s mission was born from the unimaginable loss of Ally Suhy. She is honored to help carry forward the foundation’s work, created by Chief Michael Suhy and Becca Suhy, to educate, prepare and help protect others.
During Food Allergy Awareness Week, we are grateful for instructors like Amber who bring compassion, experience and purpose to every training.
