I've been working some time on this image, originally from a 2"X3" image on an old Zerox copy my aunt had when doing genealogy work 70 years ago. To the McCoy family in Hickory County, Missouri, only, this is our great grandmother, gg grandmother to some. Mary Elizabeth (Mapes) McCoy, was born in Spafford, Onondaga County, New York in 1821. This is the first 3D image of her and the best likeness of her attempted. She may appear younger in this 3D version (Right), but mind you the only surviving image of her was this colorized image of her on Zerox (Left). There is still some work to be done. I invite family comments.

My latest venture was to take my DNA and send it through the "Big Y" version of Family Tree DNA. The results took approximately 10.2 weeks in my case, which is typical. The testing results are interesting, we are in a haplogroup I-M253 coming from a migratory group known to start from (identified from a small band) Turkey, through Hungary, Germany, into France, Sweden, Norway, then into Scotland, England and North of Ireland. I-M253 has a subgroup identified as I-FCG9453, which is specific to this later northwestern European branch. It's also among one of the first haplogroups in Europe and its estimated age is 23,000 years.
Since this information is relatively new to me and indeed us, it will take awhile to sort out and let interested family know more about our place in history!!

With recent DNA and genealogy interest I've seen a lot of people visiting my page and liking it. The 'McCoys" here as history has it first settled NORTH of the Mason-Dickson Line and remained there until they moved West to Northern Ohio into Northern Indiana, into Illinois, into Missouri, some in Iowa, a few into Nebraska and some into Kansas, thus onto the western states.
Some people are looking into my page to verify a misbegotten belief that the surname "McCoy" is associated with the West Virginia, Southern Kentucky "Clan". I'm sorry, to disappoint those who seek to "FIND" legitimacy in southern sentiment, but this site is for true seekers of genealogy, that is all! We are not flag wavers, either. Just people sharing our ancestral knowledge in all its diversity.....

DNA has allowed us to connect to another family member that remained in Pennsylvania when some of the headed west during the early 19th century. Welcome Lanny McCoy.

I have a DNA kit for McCoy and associated family's. Sorry, we are definitely NOT part of Hatfield/McCoy feud clan of Virginia and West Virginia, so sorry this is not available. This is offered for free. Men and women of our associated family can use this kit. I can have it pre-registered so you don't have to join Ancestry.com to use it. When the kit results come back if anyone is interested in the results I can mail or email them to you, they will not be made public. Greg M.

Disclaimer and warning, though! If you have a known criminal past, do not consider using this test. We or I cannot be held accountable for misread warnings herein.

This is a branch if the family who remained in Pennsylvania. Thomas Franklin McCoy was a Brigadier General in the Civil War, his son was Major General Frank Ross McCoy. This house is on the historic registry and is maintained by the Mifflin County Historical Society in Lewistown, Pennsylvania. Many of the artifacts are related in some to the family in some way. the house itself was built about 1841 and is in the style of the late Federal period of architecture and is located just off the main square in town.

What a wonderful time we had visit with a cousin, Diane Banner Whitton, that we mutually found through Ancestry DNA. She is part of the McCoy family that continued to make their homes in Pennsylvania. 7/29/2018.

I received the McCoy Family Bible this weekend from a cousin Kevin Worley. While going through the pages I found this Photo which measure 1.25"X1.25". With a few minutes of scanning and restoring the color and contrast in Photoshop I can make out this image of the two ladies. Given the time period of the clothing and hair styles this is shortly after 1900 about 1908 or 1910, so it's most likely the two eldest daughters of Willard and Nannie McCoy, Nora (seated) and Lucy! Research will continue on these two, if anyone has other ideas as to the Identity, please note it here. Thank you, Kevin!
