THE COUNTDOWN TO CAMP IS ON!🍀⛺

Grayson County 4-H is headed to camp on June 22-26, 2026 at the Southwest Virginia 4-H Educational Center in Abingdon, VA!

Campers ages 9-13 will enjoy a wide variety of activities like animal care, archery, kayaking, swimming, ropes courses, crafts, wacky science, outdoor adventures, and even a campfire! It’s a great opportunity to make new friends, learn new skills, and experience the outdoors.

What's included? 4 nights of lodging at the Southwest Virginia 4-H Educational Center, 12 meals, transportation from Grayson to Abingdon, snacks, a camp photo, and a camp t-shirt.

Cost: $175 ($50 deposit fee to hold spot). Financial assistance may be available.

To register your child, please fill out the the online registration form (https://forms.gle/iFQfyi61TQTseHeh8) OR fill out the paper pre-registration form that has been handed out at Grayson County Elementary Schools and mail the form to or stop by the Grayson County Extension Office (122 Davis St. Independence, VA, Suite 1).

It's National Agriculture Day! We're celebrating by announcing the Grayson County 4-H Poultry Project!🍀🐥

Youth will purchase chicks, raise them, complete a project record book, and show their chickens at the Grayson County Agriculture Fair (August 7-8). Youth who complete a project record book and show their chickens in the Grayson County Agriculture Fair will compete to win a premium prize.

*It is not required to complete a project record book to show your chickens at the Grayson County Agriculture Fair, but strongly recommended.

Breeds of chicks: Red or Black S*x Link, Dominique, and Wyandotte

Chicks may be purchased from April 1 to 21 at: Carroll County Coop (former Southern States), Southwest Farm Supply, Tractor Supply, or Rural King

Project Record Books can be picked up at the Grayson County Extension Office (122 Davis St., Independence, VA).

Interest Meeting: March 31st at 6p.m at the GATE Center (122 Davis St., Independence, VA).

Meet our new 4-H Agent!🍀

Hello everyone, my name is Abbie Clay, and I am from Sparta, NC, where I grew up being actively involved in the Alleghany 4-H Program. A few of the highlights of my 4-H career include traveling to Iowa to compete in the national WHEP competition, attending NC 4-H Congress, and competing in the NC 4-H State Presentation competition. I also Interned with the Alleghany 4-H program while working on my Bachelors of Agricultural Science and Masters of Agriculture Education and Human Sciences degrees. I am excited to have the opportunity to work with the youth of Grayson County!

Stop by the GATE Center (122 Davis St., Independence, VA) on April 14th from 3:00pm-6:00pm to meet Abbie and the new Agriculture Economic Development Agent and enjoy an ice cream sundae! Come and learn more information about the programs that we plan to offer Grayson County!

Adulting 101 Registration is LIVE!

Are you a teen preparing for the future? Do you need to still learn some stuff to be ready? US TOO!

Adulting 101 is a program designed for teens, ages 14 - 19, who want to gain the knowledge and skills that are necessary for a successful transition to adulthood. You will have the opportunity to learn tips and tricks on applying to college, basic daily life skills (i.e. changing a tire), budgeting, interview skills, and more!
