*Mothers are Gardeners of Hearts*
Mothers and nurturers around the world plant seeds of hope every day through care, strength, and unwavering love for their children.

One day is not enough to celebrate the incredible efforts of caregivers. Every day is an act of love and an opportunity to teach skills and character traits that grow and last a lifetime.

HealthEd Connect partners with women - mothers and caregivers themselves - who also choose to extend their care and service to their community as health volunteers. They weigh and monitor children to ensure they're on track in growth and development. They educate caregivers about proper nutrition, sanitation, and first aid to keep their children and family members healthy. They visit neighbors who are in their later stages of life to provide support, friendship, and comfort. Their dedication brings healing, hope, and education to communities that need it most.

We see you! You inspire us! You make a difference!

To mothers and nurturers everywhere, we wish you a Happy Mother's Day!

World Immunization Week (April 24–30)
Vaccines save lives—and so do the people who make sure they reach every child.
World Immunization Week, recognized annually April 24-30, and coordinated by the World Health Organization, highlights the collective action needed to protect people against disease through the administration of vaccines.
Across the DRC, Malawi, and Zambia, HealthEd Connect community health volunteers have helped immunize 200,000+ people over the past nine years, protecting infants, children, and families from measles, polio, tetanus, TB, whooping cough, and more.
✨ Spotlight: The Wasaidizi in the DRC
Since January 2026 alone, Wasaidizi community health volunteers in the DRC have vaccinated 1,819 infants and children, bringing lifesaving protection directly to families.
When immunization reaches every child, communities grow stronger and diseases lose their grip.

🌍 World Health Day: Building Health From the Heart of Kathmandu 💙
In Kathmandu, where nearly 40% of families live in poverty or on the edge, access to preventive care and health education is often out of reach. But real change is happening—through trust, partnership, and community connection.
Our local volunteers in Nepal, known as Soyamsebika, have partnered with Mary Stopes Hospital, an international NGO dedicated to women's health services. to lead women’s health camps that provide education, cervical cancer screenings, reproductive health counseling, and safe spaces for honest conversation. However, they don't just provide the health camps and then leave. The Soyamsebika continue to support the community by being present and listening. A representative from Mary Stopes shared what sets the Soyamsebika apart from other volunteers - “They stay in the communities and build relationships with the people. They listen to the people and address their needs.”
This is what health equity looks like: healthcare rooted in trust, strengthened by collaboration, and sustained by local leaders.
Yesterday was World Health Day. On this day we celebrate the volunteers, partners, and communities working together to make health accessible to all.
đź’› Together, we move closer to a future where everyone has the opportunity to live a healthy life.

🌍 World Water Day Spotlight: Matete Sinkhani Community Center, Malawi 💧
Silas and Spiwe faithfully host monthly weighing days for 70-80 children under five, offering growth monitoring, immunizations, and health education with support from local HSAs.
But there’s one big challenge: no nearby clean water. Women walk 2–3 km just to bring water for drinking and handwashing during clinic days. Lack of water access also makes it difficult for other programming to take place at the center, such as preschool programs or a community garden.
✨ Good news! Through generous donor support, HealthEd Connect was able to fund the installation of a borehole. In December, the community began digging the borehole. Rain paused the work, but completion is expected in April—bringing clean, accessible water right to the center.
On this World Water Day, we honor the importance of safe water and the communities working hard to secure it. At HealthEd Connect, we’re committed to supporting solutions—one community at a time. 💙

Sanitation isn’t glamorous—but it is essential. During a recent visit to Nepal, our team saw firsthand the impact that a clean, sanitary community can have. With leadership from community health volunteers, local residents identified sanitation as a critical priority.
Together, they launched a community-led solution: installing trash bins throughout their neighborhoods, educating families on proper waste disposal and implementation of community cleanup days. The result? Cleaner walkways, safer environments, and a healthier future for children and families.
When you support HealthEd Connect, you help make simple, life‑changing solutions like this possible.

📚 International Day of Education | January 24
Education is more than learning—it’s the foundation for equality, opportunity, and lasting change.
In Malawi, education begins long before a child enters a classroom. Community Health Volunteers are tackling severe malnutrition, teaching caregivers about nutrition, sanitation, and child development—while also stepping into classrooms themselves.
Community leaders have invited the Sinkhani volunteers to teach community‑based nursery schools. Today over 500 children ages 3–5 attend these nursery schools, learning the skills they need to enter primary school and dream bigger for their futures.
When children learn, communities thrive.

Let’s recommit to a world where every child has the chance to grow, learn, and succeed.
🌍 Together, we can ensure no one is left behind. For more information or to support our Malawi partners, go to www.healthedconnect.org.
