What an inspiring evening in Stayton celebrating the Grand Opening of Doris Place! This new Family Building Blocks Relief Nursery is already filled with hope, partnership, and the promise of brighter futures for local families.

It was wonderful to see OARN Executive Director Kendra Jones alongside Dawn Hill, Doris Place Site Supervisor, Tanya Hamilton, Senior Therapeutic Early Childhood Program Director, and Patrice Altenhofen, Executive Director for Family Building Blocks, and the Family Building Blocks staff, as they marked this milestone together. Their shared commitment to strengthening families was felt in every conversation.

From the beautiful new facility to the nurturing Relief Nursery classrooms, Doris Place is clearly built with intention, care, and community at its heart. We’re excited to see the impact this space will have for years to come.

Here’s to new beginnings and the incredible work ahead at Doris Place in Stayton.

🌱 Welcoming New Faces at OARN! 🌱

We’re excited to introduce Kendra Jones, our new Executive Director, and Heather O’Leary, our new Quality Assurance and Data Manager. On Heather’s third day, the team visited Relief Nursery Inc. to learn more about where this important work began.

Joining them was Ikaika Alapai, OARN’s Operations Coordinator, who provides the behind‑the‑scenes operations and administrative support that keeps our statewide network running smoothly. The tour was led by Leslie Finley from Relief Nursery Inc., who offered a warm welcome and shared the history and impact of the Springfield location.

We’re grateful for the leadership, partnership, and energy fueling this next chapter for OARN and the Relief Nursery network across Oregon.

The Great Drake Park Duck Race is happening this weekend! This historical fundraising event supports MountainStar Family Relief Nursery and other amazing local charities, with help from central Oregon Rotary. Spend $5 to support and earn a raffle ticket to win over $18,000 in epic prizes.

It all started back in 1990 as a fun and quirky community event held in Drake Park. Since then, the Great Rotary Duck Race has grown to become a fixture in the community’s early fall event schedule and includes all 4 Bend area Rotary clubs, local credit unions (and selected charities) selling $5 raffle tickets to raise funds for local nonprofits. Since 1989, the race has generated over two million dollars for Central Oregon charities, all supporting children and families in need.
