DON'T BE A STATISTIC! Every year, over 100 animals die in heat-related incidents, many of which are from being left in hot cars. And those are just the reported numbers, the true figure is likely much higher. The fact is, your vehicle becomes an oven within minutes, overheating to a level that an animal (or human) cannot survive. A little precaution goes a long way.

If you do decide to take your pet for a ride during this week's heat wave, check and double check that pet is not in the car when you get out. Heading to the grocery store for just a few minutes and think your pet will be fine with the window cracked? Think again.

Please be smart this week!

☀️ HEAT STROKE IS A MEDICAL EMERGENCY—KNOW THE SIGNS.

As temperatures rise, heat stroke can develop quickly and become life-threatening if not treated promptly. Recognizing the warning signs and taking immediate action can save a life.

🔴 Warning signs include:
• Body temperature ≥40°C (104°F)
• Confusion or unusual behavior
• Hot skin (dry or sweaty)
• Severe headache
• Rapid heartbeat and breathing
• Seizures or loss of consciousness

🆘 What to do:
✔️ Call emergency services immediately.
✔️ Move the person to a cool place.
✔️ Begin rapid cooling with cold water, ice packs, or cool wet towels.
✔️ Do not give fluids if the person is confused, unconscious, or unable to swallow safely.

💧 Stay hydrated, avoid excessive heat exposure, wear light clothing, and never leave children or pets in parked vehicles.
