💙 Happy Cleveland Down Syndrome Day! 💛

On October 12, the City of Cleveland recognizes Cleveland Down Syndrome Day, established through a Cleveland City Council resolution led by Councilman Brian Kazy.

This day holds special meaning for Councilman Kazy because October 12 is also his daughter’s birthday. His personal connection to the Down syndrome community inspired this recognition and makes the day even more meaningful.

Every year, Councilman Kazy plans a fun event for individuals with Down syndrome and their families to enjoy time together and make connections with others on this journey. This year, it took place at Superelectric Pinball Parlor on October 11.

Thank you to the City of Cleveland and Councilman Kazy for making this day possible and helping to create a community where individuals with Down syndrome and their families feel welcomed, supported, and celebrated. 💙💛

Sunday Sponsor Shoutout: Mansour Gavin LPA

💙 When Inspiration Becomes Impact 💛

Sometimes, the most meaningful support comes from a personal connection. For Mansour Gavin LPA, that inspiration is Riley Quinlan, the daughter of one of their colleagues. Riley is at the heart of what makes this partnership so meaningful and inspires the firm’s continued support of DSANEO.

For 13 years, Mansour Gavin LPA has been a sponsor of DSANEO, helping support our mission and the programs and resources that make a difference in the lives of individuals with Down syndrome and their families.

We’re grateful for partners like Mansour Gavin LPA who turn inspiration into action and help our community thrive. Thank you for Lighting the Way with us as a Bronze level sponsor! 💙💛

💙 When a cause is close to your heart, you find ways to make a difference. 💛

For City of Cleveland Councilman Brian Kazy, that connection is his daughter, Brianna. She inspires his commitment to supporting people with Down syndrome and helping families feel celebrated and connected in their community.

Brian has turned that commitment into action. Thanks to his efforts, October 12 was declared Cleveland Down Syndrome Day! Every year, he brings families together to celebrate, and this year’s celebration at Superelectric Pinball Parlor will be filled with fun, laughter, and plenty of pinball. Councilman Kazy continues to show up for our DSANEO community as a valued supporter of the Buddy Walk®. He sponsors the stage and parking and through his business, The DJ Company, he serves as our event MC. 🎤🚗

Thank you Councilman Kazy, for the heart you bring to this community and for all you do to make a difference for people with Down syndrome and their families. We’re lucky to have you lighting the way with us! ⚓

💙 34 families. 34 stories. One extraordinary collection. 💛

“I am one of the lucky ones.” >>>

That’s how Barbara L. Pennington, photographer of The Extraordinary Ones, describes her experience meeting the 34 families who opened their hearts and shared their stories for this special book, including the support and guidance they received from DSANEO.

Now, these beautiful photos and stories are being shared in an exhibit at Westlake Porter Public Library as part of Down Syndrome Awareness Month. The exhibit features the stories just as they appear in the book about the 34 remarkable families and their journeys.

Stop by, take a little time to read, connect, and get to know some of The Extraordinary Ones. 💙💛

We’re grateful to the Porter Library staff for welcoming the exhibit and helping share these stories with the community. It will be on display through October 30 on the upper level of the library, then will move on to the Brunswick Library.

Sunday Sponsor Shoutout: Lindsay Smiles Foundation

💙 Some missions touch your heart. Others become a part of who you are and the work you do every day. 💛

For Thom Majka, that connection is deeply personal.

The Lindsay Smiles Foundation was created in memory of his daughter, Lindsay, and continues her legacy by supporting individuals with Down syndrome and their families.

As a DSANEO board member, Thom sees the impact this community can make. Through the Lindsay Smiles Foundation, he supports DSANEO fundraising events throughout the year, helping provide programs, services, and opportunities for families from diagnosis through adulthood.

We’re grateful to Thom and the Lindsay Smiles Foundation for honoring Lindsay’s memory by making a difference in the lives of others. 💙💛
