✨ Board Member Spotlight ✨
We are so grateful for the people who show up for our mission, year after year.
Today, we celebrate one of them.
Cindi Metz-McClung has served on the BCFO board for over 8 years, bringing her heart, her expertise, and her personal story to everything she does.
She joined to honor the memory of her sister, Vicki, who lost her battle with breast cancer in 2005 at just 37 years old. Her grandmother was also diagnosed, and her commitment to this work runs deep.
As our Treasurer, Cindi brought 30+ years of finance experience in Ohio economic development, and when she retired in 2023, she kept showing up for BCFO.
In 2025, her advocacy took on a new dimension. After learning she carried a BRCA2 gene mutation, placing her in the 80% risk category for breast cancer, she made the courageous decision to have a double mastectomy and reconstruction. She is now in the 10-15% risk range.
Her message? Awareness means more than mammograms. It means genetic testing. It means knowing your family history. It means having conversations that can save lives.
She has become a powerful voice for that message, and we are honored to have her on our board.
When asked who has had the biggest influence on her life, Cindi didn't hesitate:
"My dad, he always made me and my sister feel like we were the most important people in his life. He taught us a lot about how to treat people and what is really important."
Thank you, Cindi, for carrying your family's legacy forward with such grace and purpose. 💗
