It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of Leila Cohoon of Leila’s Hair Museum in the Inited States. She has left this world and was surrounded by family in her final moments. She is survived by 2 children, 4 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. Her museum is open to scheduled tours but we ask your patience and prayers as her family grieves her passing. We will pass on any information we receive about any funeral services and locations to send flowers, cards, or donations for her. We encourage everyone to share their stories and pictures of Leila, her museum, and even any hair worked items. Leila leaves behind a legacy of having trained 65 students in over 70 years of collecting hair work. Her collection turned museum of over 3,000 pieces has made history and set Independence, Missouri of the United States on the map. Her love for hairwork has been shared in multiple countries and inspired many artists in hairwork. We will continue to share her inspiration, legacy, and love of Hairwork.
