Kansas City ASG is hosting an in-person two-day class with Marla Kazell next month!

Participants will complete "Your Go-To Jacket," a jacket-making workshop. You bring a fitted jacket or blazer pattern, and Marla will work with you to customize a collar, pockets or fastener to make it endlessly customizable.

Classes run from 10 a.m. to roughly 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, June 13-14, with lunch included. Sign up now on our website — check your email for the information!

We had an absolutely delightful sewing retreat at Missouri Sewing Machine Company in Independence this weekend! A presentation from Karen Sullivan of Sully's Upcycled during Friday’s lunch got us informed and inspired to work more with repurposed materials. We did finished some projects, but more importantly, we laughed, talked, shared opinions and advice, borrowed each other’s equipment and leaned on each other’s expertise.

We’ve had an eventful fall! In October, we headed for The Sewing Workshop Pattern Collection‘s studio in Topeka for a tour and shopping trip! Then, in November, we had our first book club meeting, with a special appearance from author Julia Kelly to talk about her novel, The Dressmakers of London!

The leaves are changing, the pumpkins are coming out and the supermarket aisles are full of candy, which means it’s also ASG KC annual meeting season! We gathered last weekend at the Gamber Community Center in Lee’s Summit.

Debbie Cole showed off dolls made from panels she purchased at the Regional Quilt Festival, and Judy Rouse brought a quilt she made and quilted herself, as well as pumpkins she made on her sock knitting machine that she gave away in a drawing.
