Today's student spotlight is Carter Homan, a 2024 graduate of Independence High School. Hear what Carter has to say about the Independence Area Dollars for Scholars Program:
"I am extremely grateful that the Dollars for Scholars program is available and easily accessible to all high school students. The generosity of the donors is unmatched, and the hard work and many hours the committee puts in ensures that each student will receive a helpful scholarship to counter the expensive costs of a higher level of education. I was very fortunate through this program and was awarded six different scholarships, which will significantly help me financially as I attend The University of Northern Iowa for my undergraduate degree. This will also positively influence my experience academically because I will be less stressed about debt and loans, allowing me to prioritize focusing on my studies instead. I strongly recommend that each high school senior takes the opportunity to fill out the form, it only takes a few hours of work, and is definitely worth it in the end."
