Nevada Hunters Against Nevada's Bear Hunt

Nevada Hunters Against Nevada's Bear Hunt Promoting ethical hunting & protecting Nevada's 400 bears. There's a perception that the Bear Hunt debate is about being a hunter or non hunter.

I'm a hunter and I'm against the hunt, and we've had thousands of hunters support our cause. It's time for the ethical hunters voice to be heard! We believe that ethical hunting practices must consider the animal as well as the species. In addition to the bear population being too small and fragile to support a hunt, bears are also hard to kill as any honest hunter will attest. And the use of dogs

only makes this worse because they add psychological torture to the physical. Which means it takes a long time to kill one and they suffer greatly in the process. Because of these facts we assert that there is no ethical way to hunt Nevada’s bears.

To call them hunters gives them more credit for ethical behavior than they deserve. These people aren’t hunters, they are just killers.

Since the start of this NV boutique bear hunt in 2011, 109 bears have been killed by trophy hunters.

Of these 109, 26 (24%) bears were previously handled and tagged.
Here is the breakdown of the tagged bears and where they came from:

• 14 were Research bears
• 5 came from Carson City
• 2 came from Tahoe
• 2 were rehabbed at Animal Ark
• 1 came from Galena (south Reno)
• 1 came from Reno
• 1 came from CA.

Pictured here (the mom bear) is one of the two Tahoe bears who was later snuffed out by a trophy bear hunter.

NV bears have just three more days before they are terrorized and hunted by dogs and trophy hunters.
