It is our assumption that the board did not walk into the meeting with the intent of entertaining a moratorium, but that is exactly what they will vote on on June 16th. That’s the real headline. The people made it clear that the resolution that was presented did nothing to meaningfully protect residents. The county doesn’t want people to know about that part.

Congressman Raul Ruiz, MD you have sent mixed signals about data center development. It is not a coincidence that the day before Election Day you make this declaration when everyone understands how unpopular these projects are.

Please, make your office available tomorrow morning in El Centro to speak to the board of supervisors. There is another important data center vote, and you should tell the board yourself your strong concerns regarding the data centers they are trying to build in our backyards.

Is the county trying to pull another fast one? Item 18 is a resolution to supposedly create protections for people from data centers. But what it is really doing is creating more avenues for data center developers to fast track projects. This incoming application by Tomcat development llc may fit this resolution they are proposing perfectly. We need to tell the board loud and clear: NO DATA CENTERS. Not now, not ever. Please make your voice heard tomorrow: June 2nd at 10 AM at 940 w. Main st. in El Centro.
