The Border Church / La Iglesia Fronteriza

The Border Church / La Iglesia Fronteriza Friendship Park is the historic border meeting place at the western edge of the US-Mexico border, overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

A cross-border ministry meeting at Friendship Park & beyond โ€” sharing communion, serving migrants, and resisting separation with love.

ns have gathered to share communion across the border wall, a reminder that neither God nor God's people will be limited by national boundaries.

Last Sunday, we reflected on a powerful truth from the Gospel: we are not called to build barriers or defend wallsโ€”we are called to set the table, making room for mercy, welcome, and belonging.

Again and again, Jesus met people in places marked by exclusion, suffering, and loss. He sat with those who were overlooked, brought healing where there was pain, and extended mercy where others drew lines. At the border, we witness this same truth: God has not abandoned this place. Christ is already hereโ€”present in every act of compassion, every hand extended in friendship, and every table where people gather in love and hope.

We were encouraged to choose mercy over division, welcome over exclusion, and the healing way of Jesus over the barriers that separate us.

Recent announcements indicated that Border Field State Park would once again be open to vehicles on Saturdays and Sundays. However, despite visits on both Saturday morning and Sunday before worship, the gate remained closed.

Thank you, Manuel, for your powerful words even as we were unable to enter, and thank you, Lee, for your companionship. We hope that next week we will once again be able to be close to our friends in Playas, continuing to nurture the relationships of friendship, solidarity, and community that connect us across the border.

Life is a gift, and every day is an opportunity to live with purpose.

This Sunday, through 1 Chronicles 29:14-15, we were reminded that we are only passing through this world. Our days are like a shadowโ€”brief, yet precious in the eyes of God. Rather than filling our hearts with fear, this truth invites us to live with gratitude, wisdom, and intention.

When we remember that time is short, we learn to invest it in what truly matters: loving God, serving others, cultivating peace, and walking faithfully together as one community.

Lord, teach us to treasure the gift of each day and to live with wisdom, gratitude, and purpose. May our lives be marked by love for You and service to others, leaving a lasting witness of Your grace.

As we continue meeting each week on the Tijuana side, we carry hope in our hearts and look forward to the day we can be closer again to our friends on the San Diego side.

14 For who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly as this? For everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand. 15 For we are strangers before you, and sojourners, as all our fathers were; our days on earth are like a shadow that does not abide.

At Whiskey 8, surrounded by walls of steel and wire, we gathered to remember a truth that no border can divide: Christ is with us.

Reflecting on Matthew 28:16-20, we were reminded that Jesus met his disciples in both their faith and their doubts. He did not wait for perfect circumstances before sending them out with a mission of love, reconciliation, and hope.

On Trinity Sunday, we reflected on the oneness of Godโ€”Father, Son, and Holy Spiritโ€”a beautiful reminder that God's desire is not division, but unity. In a place marked by separation, fear, and wounded relationships, we proclaim that God's love reaches beyond every wall and every human-made boundary.

As we stood at the fence, we were reminded that the Holy Spirit moves like the windโ€”free, unhindered, and present on both sides of the border. Christ calls us not only to love our neighbors, but to stand with them, defend them, and walk alongside them in times of struggle.

We may not be able to tear down every wall today, but we can build tables of welcome, practice peace, and choose solidarity over separation. Jesus' promise remains: "I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

May we continue to be people who speak peace where there is division, hope where there is fear, and love where there are barriers.

Glory to God for the life of Pastor Manuel, who faithfully shared God's Wordโ€”our daily bread and source of hope. We also give thanks for Lee, for offering his God-given gift of music, and for everyone who continues to show up, support, and stand alongside our friends and neighbors at the border.

May God continue to strengthen us to be people of peace in a divided world, to defend our neighbors, welcome the stranger, and live out the unity and love revealed through the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. May we follow Christ wherever He is already at work, bringing hope, healing, and reconciliation beyond every wall and barrier.

Acts 3:1-10
1. One day Peter and John were going up to the Temple at three in the afternoon, the hour of prayer. 2. Near the gate called Beautiful was a man who had been lame from birth, whom people left there every day to beg from those entering the Temple. 3. When he saw Peter and John about to go in, he asked them for alms. 4 Peter, looking intently at him with John, said,

โ€œLook at us!โ€

5 The man looked at them intently, expecting to receive something.

6 โ€œI have no silver or gold,โ€ Peter declared, โ€œbut what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk!โ€

7 Taking him by the right hand, he lifted him up, and immediately the manโ€™s feet and ankles were strengthened. 8 He leaped to his feet and began to walk. Then he entered the Temple with them, leaping and praising God. 9. When all the people saw him walking and praising God, 10 they recognized him as the same man who used to sit begging for alms by the Temple gate called Beautiful, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.

Hechos 3:1-10
1. Un dรญa subรญan Pedro y Juan al Templo a las tres de la tarde, que es la hora de la oraciรณn. 2.
โ€”ยกMรญranos!
