What an action packed week of learning, laughing, and growing at the 98th Oregon FFA State Convention! Today we watched the final session where Kahler, Justis, and Vanessa were awarded their first place medals for their Agriscience Fair, and we we cheered loudly when our Ag Issues Forum Team placed 4th in the state. Their issue on IP 28 and the Pros and Cons has been such a learning and growth curve for all 6 of these student leaders.

We may take a quick moment to catch our breath this spring break and enjoy all the pleasures of living and growing up in Eastern Oregon. We are so grateful for the support we all receive back home. A joyous cheer for our brave chaperones on this event. Margarette (head cook and all around handy lady), Sara (steady bus driver), Aimee, Brenale, Julia, Mrs. Dudek (student teacher), Audrey, Mrs. West, Mrs. Chatfield, Mr. Cant, and Mr. Adams. Also Mrs. Chatfield wants to say thanks to her sister Emma for helping with baby Dorthy so she could guide the chapter in all the events!

April and May are chocked full of upcoming events. Keep and eye out for:
-District Ag Mechanics at TVCC
-Chapter Officer Interviews
-Friends of Imbler FFA Scholarship Interviews.
-State Ag Communications
-State Vet Science
-Spring Livestock Judging at EOLS Contest
-Chapter Banquet
-Plant Sale Opening
-State CDE Days @ OSU
-EOLS Market and Breeding Animal Prep

And that just gets us to the first of June. WHEW!!!!!

Congratulations to our Agrisceince Fair winners! We are proud to celebrate three outstanding Imbler FFA members for earning top honors at the Oregon FFA Agriscience Fair!

Through their projects, these students gained valuable experience in experimental design, critical thinking, and communicating scientific results. Their hard work represents the very best of agricultural education and the future of our industry!

These students will prepare to submit their research to national FFA this summer for scoring and ranking in hopes of being a top 10 finalist at the 99th National FFA Career and Expo.

Congratulations to James and Kellan! All of our students have Supervised Agricultural Experiences (SAEs) that we use to track personal experiences in the vast areas of agriculture. Each year students have a chance to finalize and tidy up their digital records (AET), reflect on learning and skill development, evaluate their projects with industry related efficiency factors, submit applications and records for review and scoring. Finally they are evaluated in personal interviews. We were very fortunate to have 2 of our students reach the state event in Beef Production Placement, and Diversified Crop Production Placement.

Many thanks to the industry and business partners that hire and train our students in the workforce, the students for their tireless work, and for the parents to help guide and encourage personal projects (SAEs). Congratulations to James for winning and heading on for national scoring this summer, and for Kellan for placing 2nd in the state!

WOOOOHOOOOO! Karlee Patterson worked very hard this winter to prepare a Sophomore Public Speaking speech to compete at the chapter, district, sectional, and state events. This morning we learned that she earned 2nd place in the state with her speech on the rising health care costs in America and its impacts on agriculturists. What a on point topic and something that applies to so many in our communities across the state and nation. We are proud of you and happy to see what the future holds for you!

Day 3 has been a busy day for students. Between learning the results of Sophomore Public Speaking (Karlee 2nd in state!) and the Farm Business Management Team competing it was a busy morning. Our delegates to the 98th State Convention had their initial delegate meeting, students visited career, college and trade booths at the expo, and interacted with workshops throughout the day.

This afternoon, the Ag Issues Team competed in the Finals (top 6 in state) and will learn the results on Sunday's last session.

Officer Book results were handed out this morning (Secretary - Gold, Treasurer's book - Honorable Mention) and the National Chapter designation of Silver.

Tonight we will learn the results of State Proficiency Awards (James, Kellan) and hear from inspirational speakers.

Thanks to all the supporters through the year to make this event so special to our members. More to come....

What an honor! Tonight 12 of our students will walk across the stage to receive their Oregon FFA State Degree. This is recognition for progressing in their development as leaders, workers, agriculturists, and as humans. We in our community are blessed to get to work with amazing students, parents, grandparents, families, and business partners to make this experience memorable and worthwhile. Congratulations to these fine individuals for being the future of our towns, county, state, and nation.

You were all told during your Greenhand degree ceremony in 2024 the following words:
“Although you have done well and merit this recognition, let me remind you that there are heights yet to be attained. Just as there are metals more precious than bronze, there are rarer and more precious laurels to be won in our organization. The silver pin of the Chapter FFA Degree and the golden charm of the State FFA Degree await those who earn them. In order to attain these higher degrees, you must possess rare and golden qualities. You must be malleable, but never crushed; ductile, but never drawn into anything base or dishonorable; glowing with enthusiasm, but unaltered by the heat of conflict. It is my sincere wish that some of you will eventually be awarded the golden key of the American FFA Degree."

We are very proud of you all!
