🌱 Imagine the 2027 season with us, and allow us to paint a picture of our community garden space going into the future. The act of gardening nurtures hope because you're often thinking about your next growing season and the possibilities for the future.

When we broke ground in 2019, there was no knowing we'd still be at it 8 seasons later! It turns out, a community garden is what our little village needs. ❤️

We installed this composting area our first year, and after a short time it became clear that our design wasn't ideal. It grows a lot of weeds, the sections for compost are too large, and it doesn't offer an efficient way to rotate our compost system. We can do better!

Under the guidance of a certified Master Gardener, we can achieve a better system. We want to reuse the materials we have to build a raised flower bed. Once moved, we can create the 4-year composting system of our dreams, and perhaps even start a pilot on a small scale community composting program!

Moving the orientation of the compost area will create better flow of traffic between the storage shed and the garden beds. Reusing the concrete blocks to build a flower/herb garden will not only be more beautiful, it will be the anchor of a new and improved compost system!

We are looking forward to a more open, courtyard feel between the shed and the garden beds. Maybe even expanding the fence (deer) and adding more gardening space, fruit trees, and seating.

Great crew today! Special thanks to our project manager Kevin! ✨ Great job! ✨

We were so excited to have some kids helping today! They learned how to use tools, shoveled a lot of soil, talked about good bugs to have in the garden, and found a lot of earth worms! They were also really strong and managed a wheel barrow like pros!

4 MORE BEDS 👏👏👏👏 DONE! We beat our goal by 1 and we are TIRED 😪🥱😴 only 1 boo-boo, so we had to break out the first aid kit for the first time! ❤️‍🩹

Thank you to Nicole Salvaggio and Fam for helping! You guys were so fun to have with us today. Some of our friends at The Ilion First Presbyterian Church were working hard!
