S.U.C.A.P. Youth Services

S.U.C.A.P. Youth Services Ignacio Youth Services aims to build positive relationships between the youth and their community, and offers positive and safe alternative activities.

The SUCAP Youth Service division is aimed at developing positive programs for the young people of Ignacio, and building strong relationships between youth, their community and the environment. Youth Services runs the Teen Center, which is a safe, positive environment for kids to come and enjoy different activities, or just hang out. We also use the Teen Center as a hub, and launch point for Club V

enture. Club Venture is a year long program that involves elements of outdoor, adventure-based experiential education, leadership, service learning, and cultural and family connection. We also starting the Vertical Limit Program, which involves taking day trips that revolve around outdoor recreation and fitness. You will also find us partnering up with the schools and other youth programs around the area to bring safe, fun, positive programs to the young people of Ignacio.

This spring Ignacio High School students were engaged in the design process of relevant, accurate and memorable drug prevention messaging. Students began by reviewing various methods of message delivery such as print, radio and video. They decided a centrally located mural would be the most memorable and lasting way to reach the youth and young adults of Ignacio. They wanted the message to encourage reflection how drug use can impact your success. (Personal success was voted the most relevant theme by students).

Mural concept: Young people stand at the junction of two paths, one dead-ends at a couch while another leads to a successful life represented by graduation, college, family, sports and money! The choice is yours. Own your path!
