Good Morning! We are at the start of the first full day of our last week for the summer! If you camped with us this summer, thank you! We have had an absolute blast with all of the scouts and scouters who have been up to visit us. Please take a moment to reflect on your plans for next summer, reservations are now open. We would love to see you join us for Trek or Cascade Chronicles. We would also love to see you sign up for summer camp at any of our wonderful CPC camps!

One: Pioneer Trek

If you have ever wanted to explore the Jefferson Wilderness area while being fully trained and prepared by the incredible Pioneer staff, than this is for you! A group of 11 (2 adults plus up to 9 youth) can choose from 4,7, or 10 day trek options. These will included summits, hiking part of the PCT, and opportunities to experience the incredible natural area we have here in Oregon. We will provide you with training for Wilderness First Aid, pack your food, supplement your gear, and provide supply and trash runs for you on your journey. A knowledgeable staff member will accompany you for the first two days, and you will be in touch with base camp via GPS. 50-milers will be possible with the 7 and 10 options. Registration is now open for 2026!

Two: Cascade Chronicles

Do you enjoy tabletop gaming? How about trading cards games like Magic or Yu-Gi-Oh? Do you spend more time painting miniatures than experiencing the feeling of sunlight? If so, Cascade Chronicles is for you! This will be a Monday-Friday program. Your time will be split between open play sessions, specialty gaming and tournament sessions, AND a live action quest based story that will play out in real time. You will be sorted into guilds, and your guilds will participate in adventures to determine who will finally rule the Kingdom of Jeffersonia! If you want nerdy and adventurous quests, if you want to experience incredible gaming experiences (D&D one-shot in the woods around a campfire? Blood on the Clocktower? Two Rooms and a Boom?), and you want to make friends in scouting who love tabletop gaming as much as you do, than sign up for 2026!

🚨New Event Alert!🚨

For the first time since 2017 Camp Pioneer is offering an additional specialty week of camp! This is not our typical Scouts, BSA program and will be a one of a kind event for scouts 13+!

What is it?

Cascade Chronicles is a week of tabletop gaming and live action questing in a fantasy themed story told in real time! Scouts will spend their days engaging in tabletop gaming tournaments, role playing campaigns, and discovering a unique live action story played out through themed quests.

How does that work?

Scouts will be in themed guilds which are competing for the throne of Jeffersonia. At the end of the week, the King will name his worthy (hopefully!) successor. Scouts can attend in troops or as individual rovers. Each guild will have thematic questing. The Swashbucklers will engage in naval combat, the Bards will uncover an ancient prophecy, the Artificers will unearth ancient schematics to construct a machine of unknown power, the Rangers will take aim at shooting competitions never offered before at Pioneer.

What tabletop games?

The endlessly nerdy Pioneer staff will bring their boundless knowledge of gaming in every form! TTRPGs like Dungeons and Dragons/Lighthearted/ and Kids on Bikes. TCGs like Magic the Gathering. Miniatures based games like Warhammer 40k. And a ton of board games! Bring your favorites or come ready to learn!

What if I am already going to summer camp?

Cascade Chronicles is intended to be an additional summer activity! Go and enjoy summer camp! Than join us at the end of the summer for a one of a kind event.

Summary?

Yeah, sure. Epic fantasy programming that will be centered around a live story that will be played out and discovered by the scouts that attend! (Secret plots and intrigue!). Scouts will engage in tabletop gaming (Free play, tournaments, themed gaming events) in addition to the live action quest system. Oh yeah, and a week at Camp Pioneer!

It has been 3 long years but we are excited to be finally offering our Cascade Rangers program again. This opportunity to get out of camp for a week is open to scouts aged 14+ who are ranked First Class or higher. Do not miss out on an incredible experience.
