The other night, we hosted an Easter egg sticker hunt at the Rock House, where mentors and mentees teamed up to track down more than 450 hidden stickers. It turned into an all-out adventure, searching high and low and working together to find the hidden stickers on the property. Winners took home an Easter basket to celebrate the victory.

We gathered afterward for a delicious dinner by our new head cook, Trish, who made chili and homemade cornbread that everyone kept going back for. So grateful to our volunteers, Thom, Pam, Heather and Gwen who helped prep, serve and clean up!

We also had the privilege of hearing from an Idaho Springs deputy and the Clear Creek County Sheriff’s Office, who spent time with our group talking about our community and the safety of our youth. It sparked thoughtful conversation and gave students the chance to ask some great questions.

Recently, the Rock House headed to the Chart House to build relationships and experience a full-service dinner together. The food was incredible, the people were incredible, and the conversations were even better.

This special night was all about putting newly learned etiquette skills into action. It was an opportunity for students to experience going somewhere nice where it is not just about the food, but the full experience. From getting ready for the evening, dressing up, and practicing good hygiene, to enjoying the atmosphere, meaningful conversation, and beautifully presented meals, every part of the night mattered.

We spent three hours together slowing down and being present, and it showed. We are so proud of our Rock House mentors and mentees for the way they showed up, demonstrating respect, great manners, and strong character throughout the evening.

The other night we took things to new heights at iFLY (indoor skydiving) in Lone Tree!

Our kids and their mentors and even our executive director, Cheryl, stepped outside their comfort zones and took flight. Before suiting up, we learned about the physics of air and drag, and how the building circulates air to create a real skydiving experience.

Every student flew twice, and a few brave ones even ventured higher in the tunnel! We are so proud of our mentees for their courage and willingness to try something new. What an unforgettable night!

Last week we kept things low key at the Rock House, and it was such a sweet night together. We kicked things off by sharing gratitudes and shout-outs, celebrating the little (and big) things that matter.

Then mentees flipped the script and asked their mentors interview-style questions to get to know them better which resulted in great conversations all around.

After a delicious Chinese dinner, we wrapped up the night by building ice cream sundaes and just enjoying time together. Sending some gratitude to our mentors who show up each week for their kids. 🫶

In celebration of Valentine’s Day (a few days later!), our Tuesday became an evening of learning the art of fine dining and polished presentation.

We were honored to have Jan Thulin guide us through an interactive etiquette lesson, teaching everything from how to properly set a table and choose the correct utensils to practicing poise and politeness at the table.

Our amazing kitchen volunteers transformed into waitstaff, serving a five-course meal so everyone could put their new skills into practice. The room was fully engaged in this delicious meal and did an excellent job practicing their manners.

To close out the evening, we created Valentine’s Day cards for our local senior center and wrapped up with some spirited Olympic-style games.

It was a meaningful night of growth, gratitude, and connecting with these amazing kids.

The Rock House students met up on Tuesday night at the Colorado Mountain Club in Golden for climbing. Many students were hesitant at first, but quickly overcame their fears and grew comfortable on the wall. An amazing time was had by all. By the end of the session, Rock House students were belaying one another, cheering climbers on, and making it all the way to the top!

One student summed it up perfectly, saying, “That was my Mount Everest.” Thank you to CMC for hosting us and providing an opportunity for students to overcome their fears.

A few weeks ago, students chose a word to stamp onto a metal bracelet as a way to create a focus for 2026. Some of the words they chose included smile, live joyfully, rockstar, party time, self-care, nature, love, hope and rock.

One mentee chose a character from her favorite anime series instead of a word. When we looked up the meaning of the name, we learned that it meant “from nothing to limitless.” She felt it was the perfect focus for the year ahead.

The light show at the Denver Zoo is a fantastic experience! Our mentors and students got to explore and see the world in a different light. Truly a miraculous sight!

We are so grateful for our partners at Grace Mountain Ranch. Year after year, we get to introduce the kids to a whole new world in our Horse Program. Thank you for celebrating another wonderful year with us; it was a blast decorating cakes with y'all!

'Tis the season! Our mentors and students got together to celebrate this Christmas season! It was full of good food, good fun, and good fellowship. We are so grateful to our mentors and students and wish them and everyone a Merry Christmas!

We had an incredible night at the Lion King last night. It was showing at the Denver theater for performing arts. It was absolutely amazing. What a handsome group. Plus 10 more met us down there!!!! A fun night to dress up.
