ur schools next year. A little history about our foundation:
The Education Foundation was formed in the 1990’s with a mission to help enhance student learning by providing funding for gaps in education. In lieu of state funding cuts, and especially seeing the cuts that are going to be necessary for our District to meet its budget for the upcoming year, our Foundation – more than ever – realizes we need to work hard to help provide even more funding for our District. What areas has our foundation raised money for in the past? One District, One Book program, IFHS’s Multicural Week (whose goal is to instill students with the understanding that all people are different), Mini Teacher Grants, the Mayor’s Scholarship Fund, and field trips. Coincidently, most people probably do not realize that the schools have no funding for transportation costs for field trips. Currently we try to send elementary grade levels to at least one field trip. We need to raise nearly $10,000 to cover these transportation costs and another $20,000 to cover tickets fees and supplies. Now your asking...Where do I come in? Well, on May 2nd from 12am to 11:59pm, we are trying to hit our goal of $10 on behalf of every student in our district. We will be using as many resources as we can, including radio, television, and newspaper in order to promote this day of giving! This way, throughout the day, you, me, and everyone else can watch the donations come in at real time right here on this web page!
