(IDAHO FALLS, Idaho) –– Today, the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Reactor Innovation Center (NRIC) located at Idaho National Laboratory announced 13 new projects were selected to participate in the Nuclear Energy Launch Pad initiative.

Meet our member: City of Ammon.

Ammon isn't your average city government. It's a national model for what forward-thinking local leadership looks like.

Already recognized as a leader in affordable, high-speed fiber connectivity, Ammon is now preparing to roll out 2.5, 5.0, and 10.0 Gig fiber service by end of year which will make it one of the fastest connected communities in the country.

And that's just the beginning. Ammon is also one of the only cities in Eastern Idaho using pressurized irrigation. This system has saved billions of gallons of water and set a new standard for environmental stewardship in the region.

It was a big day for Eastern Idaho. CEI just opened the Battelle Energy Alliance Future Tech Building, a new home for hands-on STEM and workforce training in our region.

This is workforce development in action. Spaces like this build the skilled talent pipeline Idaho needs, and that pipeline is what creates jobs and keeps growing our state as a hub for advanced nuclear and energy development.

Congrats to CEI, Battelle, Idaho National Laboratory, and Frontier Credit Union on this milestone.

Join us tomorrow evening for a special film screening and expert panel discussion exploring Idaho National Laboratory’s role at the heart of nuclear innovation.

The Road to Advanced Nuclear: Idaho National Laboratory at the Heart of Nuclear Innovation will be presented by Idaho National Laboratory, the City of Idaho Falls and the Idaho Advanced Energy Consortium.

Join us Wednesday, August 12, at the Frontier Center in Idaho Falls. Doors open at 6 p.m., with the event beginning at 7 p.m. The film screening will be followed by an expert panel discussion.

This is a great opportunity to learn more about the work happening at Idaho National Laboratory and the future of advanced nuclear energy right here in our community.

Thank you to everyone who came out last night for Idaho National Laboratory documentary event, along with City of Idaho Falls and IAEC ! It was great seeing so many faces from across Idaho's advanced energy community in one room.

As the state's member and industry driven organization for nuclear and advanced energy, IAEC exists to bring people like you together. Evenings like this are where the real work starts: new connections, new conversations, and new opportunities for Idaho businesses to grow alongside this industry.

We're grateful for everyone who showed up and engaged. More to come as we keep supporting the development of advanced energy right here in Idaho.

The U.S. Department of Energy has named Idaho one of five states selected to explore hosting a Nuclear Lifecycle Innovation Campus, an effort that could bring thousands of jobs and billions in investment to the region. It's a strong signal of what Idaho's nuclear ecosystem can do, and IAEC is excited to see this opportunity grow.
