Welcoming Lorinda Vinyard to Kidz Kottage. She will be over our Mental Health Program.
Since 2012, I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside children, teens, adults, and older adults as they navigate life’s challenges and rediscover their strengths. My approach is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and I strive to create a space that’s both warm and conversational—while remaining clear, direct, and focused on meaningful progress.
Clients often tell me they feel heard, respected, and gently challenged in our sessions. I believe therapy should be a collaborative process, where we work together to understand patterns, build coping skills, and move toward lasting change.
If you're open to it, you might also meet Lulu—my gentle and intuitive Australian Shepherd. She’s a certified therapy dog and brings a calming presence to sessions, especially for those who find comfort in animal-assisted support.
Whether you're facing anxiety, depression, life transitions, or simply seeking a space to reflect and grow, I’m here to help you move forward with clarity and compassion.
“My journey has been shaped by connection, resilience, and a deep belief in the healing power of relationships. I’ve spent my life rooted in the rhythms of ranch life and family. I’ve been married for 37 years, and together my husband and I have raised three sons and now delight in the joy of four grandchildren. For over three decades, we’ve worked side by side raising cattle and farming on our ranch—a life that’s taught me the value of hard work, patience, and showing up with purpose every single day.
I’ve worked in several school systems over the years, serving as a teacher’s aide, school bus driver, and custodian. Each role gave me a deeper appreciation for the heart of a community and the importance of being a steady, caring presence in children’s lives. Before becoming a therapist, I spent five years as a Pre-K teacher and another four as a literacy mentor for early childhood educators. Those years taught me the power of patience, play, and the deep impact of early relationships.
In 2012, I transitioned into therapy, where I’ve had the honor of helping people of all ages—children, teens, adults, and elders—regain their footing when life throws obstacles in their path. My approach is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a practical and evidence-based method that helps clients understand how their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are interconnected. Together, we identify unhelpful patterns and build new, healthier ways of thinking and responding to life’s challenges.
CBT is not about quick fixes—it’s about equipping you with tools that foster long-term growth and resilience. Whether we’re working through anxiety, depression, trauma, or everyday stress, I tailor each session to meet you where you are, helping you move forward with clarity and confidence.
Recently, I’ve stepped into a new chapter—working with children who have experienced abuse, as well as their families. This work is deeply personal and profoundly important. I approach each child and family with gentleness, patience, and a belief in their resilience. My goal is to help them feel safe, seen, and supported as they begin to rebuild trust, strengthen relationships, and reclaim their sense of self.
And if you're open to it, you might meet Lulu—my Australian Shepherd and gentle co-therapist. She brings a calming presence and often helps clients feel more at ease, especially children navigating difficult emotions.
Whether you're facing emotional challenges, life transitions, or simply seeking a space to reconnect with yourself or your family, I’m here to walk with you toward steadier ground—with compassion, clarity, and care.”
