With temperatures rising this summer, it’s important to know the risks of heat-related illness and tips to staying cool. If you must go outside, dress properly and take breaks often.

Heat stroke is a medical emergency. If someone is experiencing symptoms, call 911 right away, move them to a cooler place and help lower their body temperature with cool cloths or a cool bath. Do not give them anything to drink. Learn more about heat stress here: https://brnw.ch/21x30qz.

Great tips when preparing for your next camping trip.

Summer camping trips are beginning. Keep food safety in mind. It is important to use clean food and water throughout your trip.

Pack foods directly from the refrigerator into an insulated cooler in reverse-use order (first food packed is last to be used). A block of ice keeps longer than ice cubes. Use clean, empty milk cartons to freeze blocks of ice or use frozen gel packs.

Light the candles and toss the confetti because Extension is celebrating 112 years! 🎂🎉

On May 8, 1914, the Smith-Lever Act was signed, creating the Cooperative Extension System to connect land-grant universities with local communities through education, outreach and research-based resources. OSU Extension has continued that mission by serving Oklahomans in all 77 counties!
