Community Basket - Serving Seven Communities

Community Basket - Serving Seven Communities The Community Basket was created by the churches of Ida County Ministerial and Odebolt, Arthur, and Kiron Ministerial and community leaders.

Serving the communities of Arthur, Battle Creek, Galva, Holstein, Ida Grove, Kiron, and Odebolt by offering nutritional food at no cost to those in need.
**This institution is an equal opportunity provider. We serve the communities of Arthur, Battle Creek, Galva, Holstein, Ida Grove, Kiron, and Odebolt. The mobile distribution is on the 3rd Thursday of each month with doors opening at 4:30. We w

ork with both the Food Bank of Siouxland and the Food Bank of Iowa. This ministry is supported by various gifts from individuals, organizations, companies, churches, and volunteers. All of our board members are volunteers and receive no compensation for their work. The Community Basket rotates by month through our seven communities. The food banks deliver the food each month to the site of the mobile location the day of. Volunteers then help with unloading food items when needed, setting up the site for the distribution of food, and then with the distribution of the food. Volunteers also help to deliver left over items to the site pantry as well as to those in their communities who may not have been able to make it to the mobile pantry. Individuals who come are asked to sign their names, their communities, the number in their households and then using the income guidelines from the state to figure if they are above or below those guidelines. We encourage people to attend the mobile distributions as this is our main focus and distribution point. The site pantry then allows those who were not able to be at the mobile to still have a chance to receive food. They can go to the site pantry which is open the 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th Thursday. All households are able to use the site pantry and the mobile site once a month. Our program is faith based and it is surrounded by prayer both for the volunteers and for those who come through our lines. Jesus invited his disciples to come and see and so we invite you to come and see. Each community has a Community Representative that if an individual is unable to make it to the mobile they may call their community rep for a pre-order which will then be filled and delivered to them. All pre-orders need to be called in by the Friday before the mobile distribution. You will find their names and numbers below. Arthur-------------Mary Gustafson------------367-2252
