Flag Retirement Ceremony on Sunday, June 14, 2026, from 12:00 Noon to 6:00 PM. Bring your worn or damaged American flags for proper and respectful retirement as we honor the symbol of our nation and those who have served under it.

This meaningful community event is a time to reflect on the values our flag represents — freedom, unity, and patriotism. Families, veterans, scouts, and community members are all welcome to attend.

New York State Pistol Safety Course.

Viola Rod & Gun Club is offering the 18-hour New York State Fi****ms Safety Courses.

Located in Dutchess County, good for surrounding counties throughout the Hudson Valley and beyond, and NYC as well.

**Do not fall for the scams. In accordance with New York State law this course must be taken IN PERSON. You cannot take this course through any online programs. **

** Current carry permit holders, please make sure you are following the 3-year recertification for your carry permit **

**Class will be held at Viola Rod & Gun Club, 26 Forest Drive, Hyde Park, New York 12538. **

You must attend both days of whichever class you choose.

*13 & 14 June (Saturday & Sunday) 9am - 6pm each day, you Must attend Both days.

*18 & 19 July (Saturday & Sunday) 9am - 6pm each day, you Must attend Both days.

This course is required for anyone who wishes to obtain a pistol carry permit in the state of New York, or wishes to buy any sort of semi-automatic rifle, including a .22, in NYS. This is not needed if you already have your current pistol permit, with exceptions for New York City, Westchester, Nassau, and Suffolk counties, who must take this course at least one time before your next renewal. Also, this permit is not required for any semi-automatic rifles you currently own. You just can't legally purchase or transfer from someone, unless you have a NYS semi-automatic rifle permit.

We all teach the same course, we choose to keep it cost effective to help out our community.

We are also here to help you with any questions you may have along the way with the paperwork or other parts of the process.

This course is also a very good refresher if you have been out of the community for a while, as we cover the current laws, and give you a lot of useful information.
