Volunteers Central Vermont a Place Where Aging is Honored

Central Vermont Council on Aging (CVCOA) is sponsoring a free veterinary clinic through The Mitzvah Fund at Meals on Wheels of Lamoille County on Tuesday, June 17, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Income-eligible individuals who are 60 or older can sign up to have their cat or dog seen and treated free of charge. Contact Kimberly Lipinski, CVCOA Director of Nutrition and Wellness, at 802- 476-2739 to reserve an appointment. Please get in touch before June 3.

This service is open to adults age 60+ who meet the income qualifications or express special financial need. Available services include exams, vaccinations, nail trimming, flea/tick products, heartworm products, blood and lab tests, dental care, small surgeries, and medications.

Services will be determined during the phone consultation and review of the pet's medical records. The veterinarian will prioritize appointments and will add technician appointments for additional pets that only need nail trims, ear cleanings, or gland expressions.

On the day of the clinic, each animal who sees the veterinarian will receive an exam and any appropriate vaccines. They may also receive a blood test if they need a Heartworm/Lyme test or if they need a future anesthetic event.

One participant who accessed free veterinary care through this partnership with The Mitzvah Fund said, "They performed $2,200 worth of services on my 13-year-old cat. She's 13 years old, and without the Mitzvah Fund, I don't know what would have happened."

Meals on Wheels of Lamoille County is located at 21 Munson Ave, Morristown. For additional information, please visit https://cvcoa.org/calendar.

New to Medicare workshops are offered regularly to help individuals who are new to the Medicare system. Sessions take place online through Zoom.  If you want to participate, pre-register by calling 802-476-0115 or by sending an email with your name, address, phone number, and the date of the ...
