Pyramid Atlantic Art Center Pyramid Atlantic Art Center: Studios and gallery dedicated to printmaking, papermaking, and book arts

Pyramid Atlantic Art Center was founded in 1981 by noted artist and teacher Helen C. Frederick to provide a setting for artistic collaboration and dialogue. A 501(c)(3) non-profit contemporary arts center, Pyramid receives federal and state funds as well as generous support from private foundations, corporations, and local businesses. In addition, we count individual donors and our members among o

ur most valued supporters. We are located in the historic Arcade building in the Hyattsville Gateway Arts District. The new 13,000 square foot facility features a papermaking studio, print shop, letterpress studio, and bindery.

June 2026 marks ten years for Pyramid in Hyattsville - and there is no place we’d rather be.

Pyramid is living its best life in this town. We have a permanent home that is about to get a little glow-up over the next year; we are helping equip a record number of artists and artistic projects; our education programs are solidly growing; our work is in demand by museums and organizations across the DMV; and we are attracting more artists, viewers, and collectors to our gallery than ever before.

But the good life is not without challenges. County support has recently been cut for Pyramid’s exhibition and education programs by $30,000. Money doesn’t stretch as far as it sed to with the cost of everything ever increasing. Plus, expectations and wishes for Pyramid’s services, current, and future, are also on the rise.

A gift of $10 in commemoration of our 10th year helps us mitigate some of these challenges and reflects the very true adage “many hands make light work;” Pyramid believes that. Commitment to collaboration is everywhere in our work, and we need collaborators in fundraising, too.

Make a donation of $10 to Pyramid this June. Our audacious goal is to have 1,000 people to give $10 this summer to raise $10,000 in support. If you’ve never given before, please show your love with a $10 gift. If you are already supporting, consider an additional $10 add-on and share with 10 friends. Or, if you have the capacity, give in any denomination of $10 to help us get to our 10k goal. We need the support of many hands to help the organization and its community live their best, most creative, and connected lives.

THANK YOU. Your gift makes you a partner in our work!

Join us for a free community printmaking. Try your hand at screenprinting and letterpress as we explore themes of civil liberties, voting rights, and community power. No experience necessary — just show up ready to make.

FREE and open to all ages. Pick a 30-minute time-slot in the link in our bio.

You’ll walk away with a print that you can use to celebrate your civil liberties: display it in your window, bring it to a rally, or share it in any way that feels right to you. Any remaining prints will be available for pickup starting Wednesday, June 17.

About Community Prints:
Pyramid as an organization honors the traditions of printmaking, which include promoting free speech and democracy. As long as it isn’t hate speech, we support many views and voices. The impetus and content of each Community Print comes from artists, community members, and volunteers. The printing itself uses volunteer printers under the guidance of a volunteer printmaker. The views expressed with these prints to not represent all of the community at Pyramid in the same way they do not represent all of the community in America. If you would like to discuss content or have a need for an upcoming community print, please email [email protected].
