What we’re looking for:
* Metro accessibility (preferably within 1/2 mile of a Metro station)
* Running water and restrooms on site
* Flat/level floor (concrete, hardwood, or sport court)
* Minimum 10,000 square feet of space
* Public accessibility

Attention skaters! DC Roller Derby and Frederick Roller Derby will face off on September 21 in Frederick and both leagues are looking for skaters to fill out our rosters!

The 1880s were a tumultuous time in the labor movement. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the United States experienced almost ten thousand strikes and lockouts during that decade. As workers fought and won battles against low wages, long hours, and harsh working conditions, people gained more time to participate in beneficial activities…and according to , this helped pave the way for the roller skating craze of the mid-1880s.

This Labor Day we’re thankful to those who advocated for worker’s rights in the past and who continue to defend them today, enabling people to participate in the recreational activities, avocations, and hobbies that make their lives full.

Our skaters were on hand at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Library yesterday to celebrate the end of summer at the library’s Back to School Bash! We helped kids pick derby names, showed off some gear, and shared some of the library’s books about our sport. Wishing all kids a happy end to the summer and best of luck in the new school year!

Are you a new fan of roller derby? The rules can be confusing! We made a handy infographic that will help you understand what’s happening on the track; it will be available to all Brawl attendees!

ASL interpretation will be available!

Our announcer is Philly Fresh, who’s favorite part of roller derby is the speed and grace, combined with the hitting and power of our skaters. He’s a regular announcer for Patuxent Roller Derby of Columbia, MD. Philly enjoys using his voice to welcome new fans to the sport of roller derby, and to lift our skaters and fans with energy and good vibes.

Finally, you’re invited to attend our after party at City State Brewing, 705 Edgewood St. NE, starting at 2:30 pm! Let the bar know you’re with DCRD and 10% of your purchase will be donated to our league!
