CHNA has an elected Board. We hold monthly meetings in our homes to address issues and enhance our neighborhood.

Washington Gas has announced it will replace the gas main system on Laurel Avenue. The gas main work on that block is expected to start November 2 and is projected to be completed by the end of December 2026.

Both lanes of Laurel Avenue will be closed to traffic for the duration of the project. The side of Laurel Avenue currently used for the Streetery is where the gas main is located. To enable the work, the Streetery pavilions and furniture will be relocated to the other side of Laurel Avenue for the duration of the project. The relocation of the Streetery pavilions and furniture is expected to start October 19 and be completed by November 2.

Washington Gas has assured the City it will install barricades and protective measures to maintain safe pedestrian access to the businesses and Post Office on that block. The Street will be closed beginning October 19.

The Hyattsville Zombie Run is on Saturday October 17, 2026. It includes the following events: 5K Run/Walk, One Mile Run/Walk, and 1K Family Fun Run/Walk.

Today, we honor Indigenous Peoples' Day and the rich histories and cultures of the many Indigenous peoples across the country. Prince George's County is home to the traditional lands of the Piscataway peoples, and we honor the role they have played in our community's history.

On this day, it is important to acknowledge the history of colonialism and the injustices Indigenous groups face to this day. Together, let us build a more just and equitable future.
