On Labor Day weekend, we want to acknowledge LIFE individuals who excel at their jobs. They are winning employee awards, and employers are recognizing how valuable they are in the workplace.

A big thank you to the LIFE employment/CBDS staff who encourage and support LIFE individuals in their employment pursuits. They fulfill dreams. And they see the future of employment success before others do.

LIFE parents, Maria and David O’Laughlin, recently shared their appreciation for the LIFE employment team -- "We could not be more grateful for this Supported Independent Living (SIL) employment team that has brought our daughter farther than we could imagine. Hannah beams with pride when asked about her employment and volunteerism."

The LIFE employment team helps adults with autism, learning and intellectual disabilities pursue a job they truly want, in an environment they want to be in.

LIFE went camping in New Hampshire's white mountains! 🏕️

18 individuals from our Supported Independent Living (SIL) community in Plymouth, MA and four staff rented 6 cabins in a row, which the group described as "LIFE's own little village."

This adventure included a visit to Campton Falls, which is a tiny, narrow goat path on the side of the Beebe river. Everyone went down to the waterfall! They were SO proud of themselves.

Kristy McIvor, Assistant Director of LIFE's Supported Independent Living, Plymouth campus, mentioned "I'm AMAZINGLY proud of every one of the LIFE residents who went.

They helped each other, cheered for each other, bonded with people they don't normally hang around with and they all did things they didn't think they'd be able to do. Kudos to every one of them!"

A big thank you to LIFE staff Kristy and Don McIvor, Sally Girts, and Christ White for this incredible summer trip! So many memories and experiences for a LIFEtime! 😃

Ian Saarmann said it best. "A special night in a special place celebrating some very special athletes!"

This week, LIFE athletes were among the guests at the Kennedy compound in Hyannis to celebrate Cape Cod area athletes who attended the Special Olympics USA Games in June.

Event speakers included Dr. Tim Shriver, Chairman of Special Olympics Inc, Mary Beth McMahon, President & CEO of Special Olympics Massachusetts, and cohosts included his wife Linda Potter, Victoria Arlen from ESPN, and USA Games athletes.

It was truly a special evening.

⛵Summer sailing with Wyatt.

As an Ambassador for the Adaptive Sailing program, Wyatt has been working in a paid position at the Duxbury Maritime School since he started in May.

This unique opportunity highlights how creative and individualized employment supports lead to meaningful employment opportunities that utilize the unique skill sets of LIFE individuals.

Sandee Martin, Assistant Director of Employment, Plymouth, mentioned “It has been wonderful to watch both new and existing community partnerships open doors for meaningful employment experiences throughout the area."

Finding a fulfilling job is an important component of living a meaningful life. It provides a sense of purpose while building in a much-needed routine and structure. At LIFE, we believe that everyone deserves the chance to answer the question, “So what do you do for a living?”

🏀 Super fun excursion to TD Garden for the Boston Block Party and Connecticut Suns WNBA Game. Lots of LIFE cheering during the game!
