Our culture is completely obsessed with coming out on top. We chase status, look for online validation, and measure our worth by earthly success. But as Pastor Matt shared this week from the Gospel of Mark, Jesus completely upends our cultural hierarchy.
True greatness in the Kingdom of God has nothing to do with being first. This week, let's stop exhausting ourselves on things that fade and shift our energy toward what truly matters to God.
• The Bottom Line: Focus on being faithful instead of being first.
• The Shift: Trade temporary cultural success for eternal value.
• Today's Prayer: Ask God to help you seek His heart and His will above all else today.

When you approach God, leave your resume at home. Throw yourself completely on His mercy and grace—it's the only way in, and it's a beautifully secure place to be.

In Luke 18, Jesus tells a story about two men who went to the temple to pray.
The Pharisee stood proudly, rattling off his spiritual resume: "God, thank you that I'm not like other people. I fast, I tithe, I'm a great guy."

Meanwhile, a tax collector stood at a distance, wouldn't even look up to heaven, and simply beat his chest saying, "God, have mercy on me, a sinner." Jesus dropped a bombshell on His listeners: Only the tax collector went home justified before God.

The man, deeply impressed by his own goodness, went home guilty. The man who knew he had absolutely nothing to bring to the table went home forgiven.
