HCC held their annual Career Fair at the Sports Arena today. I wanted to say thank you to 2 of our first year apprentices for volunteering to come along and talk about our Apprenticeship. We had some great conversations with all levels of job seekers, from High School and College students, to seasoned workers looking for a career change. Thank you Baylee Holloway and Samuel Williams

Had a good night at Solomon High Schools Opportunity Night. I want to say thank you to Issac James and Syrus Hemphill, for volunteering to ride along to speak with the students about our Apprenticeship and what a career as a Union Electrician entails. We had a good night with some good conversations taking place.

Good morning Brothers and Sisters, Brother Isaac James and Brother Brandon Peterson are starting a RENEW NEXT GEN Chapter here at Local 661. Please read through the following communication from them, this is a great opportunity to get involved in shaping the future of your local.

Hello friends, this is Isaac James 5th year apprentice with local 661. Brandon Peterson and I recently went to the IBEW ReNEW/NEXTgen conference and learned a lot of cool things that our local could be doing. We are wanting to start our own ReNEW committee here in Hutchinson. The ReNEW program is all about finding the IBEW’s next generation of leaders, community outreach, fundraising and organizing new brothers and sisters into the IBEW. This committee is brand new to our local and would take some time to get on our feet depending on the type of involvement that we receive from our peers. We would like to try and meet for the first time 1 hour before the union meeting at the hall in January.
