West Virginia State Parks Foundation Love WV State Parks is the Foundation's initiative to protect our parks and forests.

With your support, we can ensure WV State Parks thrive for generations to come. The West Virginia State Parks (Statewide) Foundation Inc., formed in 1998 is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to “preserve, protect, and enhance West Virginia State Parks, Forests, and Rail Trails by providing leadership in communication, funding, and advocacy in partnership with individua

l Park Foundations.” Membership in our foundations is made up of park advocates, local leaders, and others who understand the incredible value our park system brings to the state and its continued legacy. Since their inception, state park foundations have contributed more than $ 24 million to projects on WV State Parks, Forest and Rail Trails. The West Virginia State Park system under the purview of the Division of Natural Resources includes 35 state parks, 9 state forests, and 2 rail trails in 35 counties around the state.

🌲 Who Are the Friends of Hawks Nest Foundation? 🌲

The Friends of Hawks Nest Foundation is a community-driven nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving, protecting, and enhancing one of West Virginia's most treasured places—Hawks Nest State Park.

Our mission is to support projects that improve the Hawks Nest State Park area through conservation, recreation, education, and community engagement. Whether it's helping maintain and expand trails, preserving the area's rich history, supporting beautification efforts, promoting outdoor recreation, or organizing volunteer and fundraising events, we're committed to ensuring Hawks Nest State Park remains a place that everyone can enjoy for generations to come.

We believe the best way to protect this incredible natural resource is by bringing people together. Every volunteer, member, donor, and supporter plays an important role in making a lasting impact.

....Review WV's New Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan....

Our WV Statewide Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan (SCORP) sunsets this December.

What is SCORP? - a five-year strategic document that identifies the state’s outdoor recreation needs, sets funding priorities, and guides the use of Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) grants. The plan is developed every five years with input from citizens, recreation providers, land managers, and other stakeholders, and it is essential for the state to remain eligible for federal LWCF funding.
