Mission West Virginia Inc Mission West Virginia is leading a statewide effort to promote positive futures for all kids in WV.

Mission West Virginia works throughout the state to help bring partners together to do what West Virginians do best - help each other with unique, local solutions to societal problems. We envision within West Virginia:

Strong communities in which the disadvantaged and disenfranchised are served adequately through the collaborative efforts of government, faith communities, community based groups, and other entities by setting differences aside and uniting around a common mission. Faith communities and non-profit organizations, energized, equipped and actively participating in fulfilling their mission and positively impacting their local communities. Mission West Virginia recognized as a catalyst and a model for innovative community asset building and partnership development. DISCLAIMER:

Last week, Mission West Virginia stood among honorees from across the country as a 2026 Angel in Adoption, an honor we don't take lightly.

The award comes from the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute, nominated by Congresswoman Carol Miller. Executive Director Kelly Thompson and Frameworks Director Rachel Kinder traveled to Washington, D.C. to accept it on behalf of our team.

While there, they had opportunities to sit down with staff from the offices of Congresswoman Miller, Senator Shelley Moore Capito, and Senator Jim Justice to talk about what West Virginia's children and families need, and what it will take to meet those needs. We're grateful for their time and attention.

Thank you to Congresswoman Miller for the nomination, and to CCAI for the recognition and for giving the Angels a seat at the table.

Two people accepted this award, but it belongs to the whole Mission WV team and to the partners who do this work with us every day. Their commitment to permanency for West Virginia's kids is why we were in that room.

We're thrilled to share that 31,019 votes were cast for Mission West Virginia through Target Circle. The result is a $4,169.72 grant for the work we do with children and families across the state!

Your votes help us connect foster and adoptive parents with the kids who need them, stand behind the relatives raising children they love, and give teens the tools to build healthy futures.

Our staff had a great time volunteering at the Get A Life event for Putnam County Schools! Students worked through real-world financial decisions—budgeting for housing, transportation, groceries, unexpected expenses and more.

We loved getting to be part of a day that helps students build skills they’ll use long after they leave the classroom. Thank you for having us!
