Sunny warm days transition into cool nights. Trees display God's glory as their leaves slowly change from green to vibrant colors of yellow, orange and red.
We are now in a time of transition as well, we prepare to complete a time of Harvest and get ready for the start of winter. It's time to pick the last vegetables from the garden, to pick the flowers that may remain and perhaps pick the last berries to freeze or can.
Luke 10:2 Jesus said to His disciples, "The harvest to plentiful but the laborers are few. Therefore, pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest."
Jesus sent out 70,2 by 2 to share in the harvest and spread the word of God. As Jesus sent out the 70 and also the 12 disciples, we are also called to be a laborer in the harvest.
The Orthodox religious leaders of Jesus' day looked at the common people as chaff to be destroyed and burned up. Jesus say them as a harvest to be reaped and saved. As the Pharisees looked for the destruction of sinners, Jesus in love died for the salvation of sinners. Thank You Lord.
The truth is the harvest will never be reaped unless there are reapers to do the reaping. Jesus needs men and women. He needs You and Me! Yes, we pray for the coming of Christ's kingdom daily, but the Word says prayer without works is dead. We need those to pray and their prayers are the strength of the laborers. Those of us who have the strength of body and health of mind and presence of the Holy Spirit must be the reapers - for there is someone whom each of us could and must bring to the God. We are to love and share the Word of the Lord.
May your October be a time to sow, giving time, money, resources, faith, hope and love to others for the Kingdom. As you sow in faith you then wait and your seed will grow. Protect what you have sown, water your seed with prayer and Thanking God for your harvest. Speak words of faith that cut down the crops and bring in the harvest. "What you say is what you will sow." Pray in your harvest in the name of Jesus.
As George Washington Carver said "be patient and persistent, seizing every opportunity showing tenderness with the young, compassion with the aged, sympathy with the striving and tolerant with the weak and strong... because some day in life you will have been of these." May your sowing and reaping in the Sprit as Jesus did! In Acts 10:38 "He went around doing good."
Be blessed growing good seed. Praise be to God.
