Weekly OPEN Meetings Taking Back Ohio is a grass roots Ohio 501c3 nonprofit whose mission is to educate, advocate, and support those who are seeking recovery from Addiction and/or Mental Health Challenges find it and keep it! We do this primarily through our weekly Open Recovery meeti

ng's that use a Positive Peer Approach to help those seeking Recovery find their true meaning and purpose in life. Taking Back Ohio was started by a few close friends in recovery at the Sandusky Artisans Recovery Community Center in 2014 and welcomes anyone and everyone seeking Recovery from Mental Health challenges or substance use disorder as well as any supporters. This meeting is unlike any other recovery meeting that you have ever gone to!
>Taking Back Ohio is not a twelve-step meeting, nor is it faith based. We welcome those utilizing MAT as a way of achieving Recovery from SUD and all pathways to Recovery. The group chose for the meeting to be like this so that anyone from the outside who had skepticism or fear related to going to a recovery meeting would feel open to try this out! If you are considering living FREE from the bonds of addiction - YOU are welcome here.

Help us celebrate Rachel and her latest recovery milestone! 👏💜

At last Wednesday’s Taking Back Ohio meeting at the Erie County Health Department, we had the absolute honor of celebrating Rachel and her latest recovery milestone — OVER 4 YEARS of continuous recovery! 🙌

More than 4 years, one day at a time.
One choice at a time.
One step at a time.

Rachel gratefully and gracefully accepted her Multiple Years Key Tag, and moments like this remind us exactly why we do what we do.

Recovery isn’t always easy. It takes courage, commitment, humility, and perseverance. Rachel’s journey is a powerful reminder that healing is possible and that long-term recovery is real.

Rachel — we are incredibly proud of you and grateful to walk alongside you on this journey. Thank you for allowing us to celebrate this milestone with you and for showing others what hope looks like in action.

This is recovery.
This is Ohioans thriving in recovery. 👊

Help us celebrate our man Steve and his incredible comeback! 👏💛

At last night’s Taking Back Ohio meeting at the Erie County Health Department, we had the absolute honor of celebrating Steve and his 90 days of continuous recovery! 🎉

Steve, a proud veteran from the Ohio Veterans Home, had been coming to TBO meetings regularly for a while. Like many of us, his journey wasn’t perfectly linear. He experienced a slip in his recovery… and around that same time suffered a literal fall that seriously injured his knee.

For the last 90+ days, Steve has been fighting on multiple fronts.

He’s been putting in the hard work in physical therapy, working to regain his strength and mobility… while also fighting to reclaim his recovery.

And this week, after all that hard work, Steve was finally well enough to COME BACK to a TBO meeting to pick up his 90-day keytag. 👊

Let that sink in.

In his 80s.
A veteran.
Recovering from a slip.
Recovering from a knee injury.
Showing up anyway.

That’s courage.
That’s grit.
That’s recovery.

Steve reminds us of something important:
It is never too late.
Never too late to heal.
Never too late to come back.

Steve, we are incredibly proud of you, brother.
Keep showing up. Keep fighting. Keep taking your life back.

This is recovery.
This is resilience.
This is Ohioans thriving in recovery. 👊💜

Help us celebrate Jada and her incredible recovery journey! 👏💜

At last Wednesday’s Taking Back Ohio meeting at the Erie County Health Department, we had the honor of celebrating Jada and her latest recovery milestone — over TWO YEARS of continuous recovery! 🎉

Two years represents countless decisions to keep showing up…
Choosing healing over hurting.
Choosing connection over isolation.
Choosing hope over hopelessness.

Recovery isn’t always easy, but milestones like this remind us what’s possible when we stay connected, keep doing the work, and refuse to give up.

Jada, we are so proud of you.
Thank you for allowing us to be part of your journey and for showing others that long-term recovery is real and possible. Your strength, resilience, and commitment inspire people more than you probably realize.

This is what recovery looks like.
This is hope.
This is Ohioans thriving in recovery. 👊

Help us celebrate Nevada and his latest recovery milestone! 👊💙

This is Nevada.

We remember Nevada’s very first 24 hours with us—and even then, it was easy to see the kind of person he is. Nevada has a kind, compassionate, and empathetic heart… with the soul of a warrior.

At last Wednesday’s Taking Back Ohio meeting at the Erie County Health Department in Sandusky, we had the honor of celebrating Nevada and his 30 days of continuous sobriety. That’s 30 days of choosing himself, choosing recovery, and taking back his life.

Recovery isn’t always easy. It takes courage, vulnerability, grit, and a willingness to keep showing up—especially on the hard days. Nevada has done exactly that, and we are incredibly proud of him.

As Nevada continues his recovery journey in Fremont, we want to wish him nothing but strength, peace, and continued growth. Know this, brother—you carry the support of this community with you wherever you go.

This is recovery.

Drop a 👊 or some love in the comments to help us celebrate Nevada and show him some support!

👊 Help us celebrate BRENDAN and his latest recovery milestone — 90 DAYS of continuous recovery! 👊
THAT’S 3 MONTHS!!

Last Tuesday at our Taking Back Ohio meeting at The Oak House in Port Clinton, we had the absolute honor of celebrating Brendan and this incredible milestone.

What makes this one extra special is that we had the opportunity to meet Brendan on Day 1 of his recovery journey… and now here we are, celebrating three months of growth, commitment, and hard work.

That’s what recovery looks like.
One day at a time.
One choice at a time.
One connection at a time.

Recovery isn’t always easy—but Brendan keeps showing up, doing the work, and moving forward. And that matters.

Brendan, we are proud of you, brother. 💜
Keep building. Keep growing. Keep fighting.
Your story is still being written, and the best chapters may still be ahead.
