South Dakota's Premier Woman's Award.

Spirit of Dakota Award is an annual honor bestowed each fall to an outstanding SD woman whose courage, strength of character, and leadership make her successful and admired in her community and state.

Once nominations are gathered on August 1, copies are made of each, organized with one copy of each, and packaged to mail to the Selection Commission. The Selection Commission is made up of ten Women from throughout all of South Dakota. In a quiet moment, at their own pace, these ten Women review each nomination, scoring based on a criteria. They don't discuss the nominees with each other, just score and mail back. This is a hard, but rewarding task. We are so thankful and grateful for this group of Ladies! Spirit of Dakota Society Members stuffed over 300 envelopes to mail to all Mayors and Chambers in South Dakota. Each envelope contains a Spirit of Dakota brochure with information and a nomination form. Find both on our website:
