Let’s travel back to London in 2004, and journey through 22 years of milestones, memories and moments that have shaped parkrun 🧡

We don’t see sunset at Hays Farm parkrun, but it is a lovely time to be exploring the Hays Farm at South Huntsville trails. If you’re looking for a peaceful evening walk or run, the greenway is looking especially pretty at sunset lately.

❌ CANCELATION NOTICE: Hays Farm parkrun – Saturday, October 10 ❌

Due to the forecast predicting 40+ mph wind gusts, heavy rain, and potentially embedded thunderstorms during our 7:30 AM start time, we have made the official decision to cancel tomorrow's event.

With the heavy rain and wind, there’s the risk for falling branches and uprooted trees along the trail.

The safety of our volunteers, local participants, and visiting tourists is our absolute priority.

Stay safe, sleep in, and we will see you back on the greenway next week!

⚠️ Weather update for this Saturday's parkrun (10/10) ⚠️

We've been contacted by some of our parkrunners regarding the incoming storm system this weekend, so I want to provide a quick update.

Depending on how the forecast evolves, we will hold the event if we believe it's safe to do so. Please check our social media pages on Friday evening or Saturday morning for a final update before you head out.

With the current forecast calling for wind gusts around 30 mph at parkrun time, we are closely monitoring the conditions.

Because much of our greenway course runs through marshy areas, and when you combine wet, marshy ground with high winds and trees that still have a full canopy of leaves, it creates a risk for trees and large branches uprooting or falling onto the path.

parkrun operates under strict safety standards, and our number one priority will always be the safety of our participants and volunteers.

📧 Do you receive our event emails? 📧
The easiest way to subscribe is to find a past results email and click the opt-in link, or log in to your parkrun profile. We will email our mailing list directly if the event is canceled.
Stay safe, and we will keep you posted!

* BREAKFAST POSTPONED *
Thursday 10/8 update: Our parkrun on Saturday is continuing as planned, but due to the potential for weather disruption, we're postponing our 'breakfast mingle', and this will be re-scheduled. Hope to see you on Saturday!

Our next parkrun is coming up on Saturday (10/10), and this week we've got a special breakfast ... after our parkrun this week, we are being treated to a post-parkrun breakfast at The Jessam , located just a couple of minutes away at 850 Haysland Road SW. Everyone is welcome, and we would love to see you there. Feel free to bring friends!

We’ve also got a few volunteer roles still open this week, and we'd love your help if you're available.

Did you know that Elgie's Walk Greenway at Hays Farm is part of the Singing River Trail? The Singing River Trail's aim is to create a 220+ mile connected trail network across Madison, Morgan and Limestone counties!

If you're interested in hearing more and providing input, they're holding a public input session October 6.

The next chapter of the Singing River Trail starts with your input. 👏

Our original master plan was completed in 2019, outlining more than 70 miles across Madison, Morgan and Limestone counties. Seven years later, our communities have grown, priorities have evolved and it’s time to take another look at what comes next.

Join us October 6 for a public input session where you can share your ideas and help inform the updated master plan.

🗓 October 6 | 5–7 p.m.
