When you sponsor a child for Christmas, you don’t really know much about them. It can also make you question whether or not they actually received the gifts. We wanted to share with you two ”thank you” notes we received to assure you that we make sure the gifts get to the children you sponsored.

As the year draws to a close, we want to acknowledge and send our sincere gratitude to the many companies and individuals who helped us assist over 390 children in foster care and their foster parents in Madison County, Alabama with Christmas wishes. Each child submitted a wish list, we matched them with a sponsor, and our sponsors came through with love and generosity in fulfilling those wishes. This is our biggest project of the year, and we could not do this without the support of this community. Special thanks to all those who contributed from COLSA Corporation, Pinnacle Bank, ServisFirst Bank, Heart Center Research, North Alabama Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority, Avion Solutions, Sean Robinson Neighborhood Group, Turner Construction, Episcopal Church of the Nativity, Dynetics, Frontier Technology, DTechLogic, Concurrent Technologies, Silo Design Build Studio/Architect, Redstone Government Consulting, Teledyne Brown Engineering, Cornerstone Presbyterian Church, Power Brands Hospitality Group, FITZ PILATES and the many individuals who sponsored on their own. Today FOCAL joined in the appreciation celebration of the foster parents and families of Madison County by providing funding for food for the event. We are happy to support the families and social workers who provide for the children of Madison County in foster care. We are in the final stages of our Christmas project for 2025! Thankful for all involved.

FOCAL is honored to have received a $500 grant from the Community Foundation of Greater Huntsville's Share Your Story 2025 grants process. Funds will be used to assist children in foster care in Madison County, Alabama. Many thanks to those on the Foundation for recognizing our organization and awarding this grant to us. Assisting children in foster are and their foster parents is our primary mission.

Thank you to all of you who donated so the foster children and their families could enjoy a baseball game watching our Trash Pandas. We sent over 100 children.
It was a first for many of the children, and we couldn’t have done it without your support.

We always learn a lot on PSA Day here at the station. Your donations to WLRH help pay for your favorite programs and allow us to provide free, on-air announcements for local non-profits through our Public Service Announcement program. The Huntsville Tree Commission with Green Team notes that summers in North Alabama can bring drought conditions and that mature trees require deep watering during extended dry periods. A soaker hose—preferably the round, porous type—is considered one of the most effective methods for watering established trees. Hoses are typically placed on the ground beneath the outer branches along the crown’s dripline and used for up to eight hours every 7 to 10 days, as needed.

The Delta Zeta Huntsville Alumnae Chapter, in partnership with the Huntsville Track Club, will host the 43rd Autumn Chase Fun Run on September 18th, from 4 -7 PM at John Hunt Park. This 1-mile fun run promotes healthy habits in our community’s youth. Proceeds benefit the Pediatric Audiology Department of Huntsville Hospital. Registration is now open for kids pre-K to 8th grade.

FOCAL Foster Children's Alliance is an all volunteer organization that is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for children in foster care in Madison County. We will sponsor “Bourbon in the Barn – A Night of Fostering Hope” on Friday, September 5th from 5:30 - 10:30 PM at Casey Acres Barn.

The Downtown Rescue Mission is celebrating 50 years of service. The community is invited to a 50th Anniversary Celebration on Tuesday, September 16th, at the Von Braun Center–Saturn Ballroom. Choose from two event options: a lunch at 11 AM featuring special guest, Mike Williams and a dinner at 6 PM, featuring entertainment by Matthew West and Mike Williams.
