Tennessee Valley Scottish Society

Tennessee Valley Scottish Society Welcome to the OFFICIAL page of the Tennessee Valley Scottish Society. Please browse our page and feel free to ask questions and get involved!

We are an organization who is constantly on the lookout for new members. If you are interested in being a full fledged, dues paying member of the TVSS please contact us and we will get you an application. The Tennessee Valley Scottish Society (TVSS) was established in 1986 to promote and preserve Scottish culture and heritage by providing the residents of the Tennessee Valley with an opportunity t

o experience the culture, athletics, and history of Scotland. Formed by a small group of friends who met to celebrate “Hogmanay” (the Scottish New Year celebration), the organization has grown to include over 150 families and individuals. TVSS is a Federally-recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit educational organiza-tion, governed by a Board of Directors elected from the Membership at large, and an Executive Committee elected from the Board of Directors. The North Alabama Scottish Festival is the showpiece activity of the Society, incorporating internationally known entertainers, vendors, demon-strations of Celtic dance and sheepherding, and the full range of Highland Athletics. In 1999 the Southeast Scottish American Athletics Association (SSAAA) sanctioned the North Alabama Scottish Festival as a qualified athletic competition. We welcome any interested individuals to complete the Membership Application and mail it in to us or turn it in at one of our events along with your dues. Once again, we are very glad to have you join us. Scots are very friendly people and you might discover some common ancestry.
